The 2015 BMW i8 is a technical marvel - but it's often whisper quiet, at least for a sports car. BMW pipes a pre-recorded exhaust note, taken from a turbocharged 1.5-liter 3-cylinder engine, throughout the cabin. It's acoustic trickery, but BMW does the same thing in the M5 sport sedan.
