I’m planning on getting a 2015 very soon, so while doing research your vid came up, good review! Just like you, I couldn’t afford it brand new so there are a few out there within my means now. It’ll be my third bike, along a R7 and a HD. Dude, no disrespect, but u sounded like McLovin from Superbad. Anyhow, great content overall, subscribed✅
Also, definitely cover that headlight. It's like $150 for a good Touratech cover and it's super cheap insurance for an insanely expensive part. Even my buddy who rips around on his F800GS cracked his cheaper headlight and doesn't want to drop the money on a new one. New heated grips are like $140 each if I remember correctly. They get hot enough in the second setting to start melting, even though it may not feel like it with just a few millimeters of leather in between your hands and the grips. Definitely just get the "pigtail" connector for 10$ and use your existing battery tender. No need for anything more expensive if the one you have works. In regards to lane splitting: I split harder on my GS than a lot of other bikes I come across. Your widest point is your handlebars, and the more you get used to the bike, the better you will get. I actually prefer having a tall bike like that as well so you can see over cars and your headlight is basically at mirror height to most cars, so people see you coming. Also, I really love the blue. Everyone and their brother has been getting a triple black GS. I'm excited for you!
Cant I just change the grips itself? without changing the whole heated grip assembly? it seems that it had advanced wear with only a couple thousand more miles than my s1k.
I hear a lot of love/hate for those tires. I would never go off road with them personally, but some people really like the compromise they give. Lots of complaints about how much them hum, though. By the way, if you want to see that Givi case in person, Abby at BMW MCSF has one on her F800GS. I'm actually fairly impressed with it, and I usually despise Givi cases.
yeah that Givi Trekker caught my eye...52 liter...definitely getting that next. The tires yeah....ill wear these out for a bit then get something else...a friend is saying K60's....I'm like 99 percent road and maybe 1 percent dirt LOL.
K60s are way too dirt oriented if you aren't off road. Ask Kyle if you are in contact with him, still. He runs Pilot Road 4s and seems to like them. I would also suggest the Metzler Tourance (not the Next or other one). I liked those on the road, and you would still have a little dirt capability.
