@Kirk Robinson so are you saying that 2 flowmaster super 10 mufflers and xpipe are quiter then one flowmaster super 10 dual in dual out muffler and were you place the muffler does that effect sound
@@chrisbrockway5595 all eight cylinders are traveling through one body of Muffler, versus four cylinders, having been divided, each going through a full body muffler. Simply put, two mufflers are going to dampen the exhaust note more than just one. I hope that makes sense. But we experience it often.
Good question. My first answer would be that the single muffler with the two in and two out has the ability internally to equalize and balance the exhaust volume therefore equalizing and tuning the exhaust system. The second reason is it has a nicer and more aggressive tone with one versus running a pair. By running a pair you would have to add an X pipe in front of them to equalize and properly balance the exhaust banks. As a result it would also be a bit quieter. So in theory one muffler does the job of two mufflers and one X pipe without all the additional material. To us it’s more of a win win situation. Thanks for watching and we appreciate the great question!!
@@kirkrob0412 Thanks for the quick reply. I would like to talk about this a little more, though, ( so I can learn more ). I understand what you've said, about using less materials, ( that would mean a lower overall price ), but my intention is to use two single Super 10's. One on each side, under the truck. The truck has long tube headers. Bought it that way. In my state, I'm not required to use cats at all. My truck is a classic. 70's vintage. Stepside pickup. 5.7 liter. GMC. I think I've learned that H-pipes will sound better, and that H-pipes contribute more to low, and mid-range torque. So, that was my plan, as opposed to using an X-pipe. I'm not really interested in speeds above 90mph. I'm much more interested in power, ( torque ), below the highest speeds. Is there anything else you can tell me, or correct me on? Please? Thanks......
Hey Tom, we do the best we can but sometimes the customers in a hurry and needs to go and that goal is 50-50 chance it it’ll be in the opposite direction. This was a case of being at the customers mercy as always here at Kinney’s. Nonetheless, hope you enjoyed the video.

Levi 19XX The super 40 is our recommended Flowmaster series if you like Flowmaster. It is rich and heavy yet considered friendly on your interior. 😊 either way, we have them all in stock.
Levi 19XX I would push for the super 40 in your case. Our experience with the super 40 is a pleasant interior with very minimal to marginal resonation. The super 44s that we put on tend to be a little strong on the interior. You do not have to take my word for it here as you can go listen to them in our videos from our website makes it a little easier. Either way see you tomorrow
Yes, we would need to add an "X" pipe in the front to get our "tune" to the exhaust that the two in, two out muffler already gives us. this would also be just a little quieter overall.
Why is it that muffler shops....the guys who are suppose to know everything about mufflers, are too stupid to know that’s definitely not a true dual system. WAY too quiet to be true duals.
