Thanks for the video. May I suggest the use of holesaw for the corners and metal cutting blade for the jig saw? Apparently the warranty is not voided by this installation, if it is not the source of any problem. I just wish the whole package was not so expensive.
With the exact position I cut for the rectangular hatch, I had no problem with placing the bucket inside without modification . All I had to do was shift the foam blocks slightly. Now if the bucket is hitting the bottom of the kayak you can always cut a small section out and tape the bucket back to fit in. I have guys that cut the bucket in PAs to extend it so a 3rd Plano 3600 tackle box will fit in.
hi there, i just got myself a 2015 outback and installed the rectangular hatch, however, the bucket wont fit in as it only designed for PA, can you please tell me how you can put the bucket in? I would love to have the bucket instead of the tackle management system, hope you can give me some hints. Thanks in advance.
Thinking about doing this but wondering if the hatch will support a 200lb person? With the round hatch I can stand next to it no problem. Do you think the hatch is that sturdy? Thanks
Craig Jeans that is an older style hull. Doesn’t not fit in the available area very well. I have installed them on older Outbacks but it is not easy and your placement has to be perfect for it to fit. And the bucket will not fit b/c it hits the bottom of the hull
Keen on installing the rectangle hatch but forums are full of people saying the bucket doesn't fit. I prefer the bucket over the tackle management system. Any tips on how you fit the bucket? Is it original Hobie or after market?
