Why can't these reviews ever feature someone that likes cruisers? I am all for other styles of bikes, but I like cruisers, and would love to hear a review that doesn't go like this: "Cruisers are horrible, but if you were to ride this one you probably would be okay for a few miles." I volunteer my services, fly me out let me test ride and I'll tell it like it is.
The only thing to review about a cruiser is the styling, because everything else is kinda "dated". If they are going to review them properly, they are going to say that everything is bad. Slow, bad handling, bad braking, etc... You buy it for the style, but then who's the Journalist to tell what you like?
Thats great. Now take a ride on a Duke 800 Scrambler. The kawi is like a gutless old tractor next to it. But is made for beginners so youll likely want something more dynamic soon.

I'm selling my ZX-6R for this bike, sick of the maintenance intervals and high upkeep just to end up cruising 70% of the time and on the track 10% of the time, let's not talk about the last 20% of absolute hooligan stunts. It's fine to have less power, they're a blast to ride & cruise on and when you want to .. do what the law kindly asks you not to; they move & corner well enough for most riders on the street not just looking to fly through a corner. Plenty of power to f**k right off at a stoplight and an "okay" sound (the PTwin sound is .. acquired taste which I do lack but a factory Arrow fixes mostly) Will I miss the ZX? Yeah of course, she's my baby but having both isn't in the cards at the moment.
Just got one. Had a Harley before this one so pretty different, Much more comfortable and quieter. Most of my riding is in town and short trips so it makes this bike an excellent choice.
I test rode the Vulcan S alongside the Honda CTX700. Different in style, but performance and price wise the two bikes are nearly the same. The Vulcan S had one major turn-off- poor fit and finish. On the Vulcan S I looked at, the brushed aluminum "fins" on the engine were already beginning to oxidize, and the gaps between certain parts were not symmetrical side to side. The Honda fit and finish appeared flawless. I bought the CTX, and couldn't be happier with it, but the Vulcan S was a nice looking, running, and handling bike. I just think Kawi needs to turn the quality up a notch, as people look for it even on lower priced bikes.
Not a bad review but she totally skipped the transmission. I've seen other reviews which say that whilst the transmission itself is good, the gear lever linkage is poor, to the extent that when changing up, you can't feel the gears engage. The reviewer wasn't always sure which gear he was in and he also said the lever movement had a rubbery feel to it. Any feedback out there on this?
well it has a gear selector on it so you will know what gear you are in.. plus i have never ridden a bike where i feel a clunk of a gear change it has always been smooth just click the foot level all the way up and you are in the next gear ...simple. you cant skip shifts on a bike like you could with a manual car shifter you would have to click all the way up with your foot then back down then up again in order to shift up past just one gear.
VeeFour I own the Kaw er6n (naked 650 ninja version) from 2009 and I completely agree with you about the engine sounds. Love my er6n but the put-put engine sound is so blah on the bike
I've never ridden one, but they're good bikes by all accounts, but it's the curse of the parallel twin that it sounds so.........meh. Not a big consideration in the grand scheme of things, but half of my love of bikes, is the way that they sound, and it was a big consideration in my choice in the V4R
VeeFour I'm posting a review of the Vulcan S this week. You are right that parallel twins sound very "meh". That is oddly a very good word to describe their sound. My little Ninja sounds much better with a pipe, but I prefer my 1000RR I4. The V4 is such a wonderful mix between the screaming I4 and the throaty V-twin. Good choice.
Pegs in the rearmost position, The most forward seat you can pick, and I would buy a set of dragbars. That is how it would leave the dealership, if I were to buy one. Then comes the mods once I get her home. The engine would be tuned back to the Ninja specs, and I would rework the suspension, with adjustable forks and shock. Lastly, if they will fit, wheels from a Honda Superhawk, which gives me a better selection of grippy rubber. For the price, this looks like it could be an excellent bike for a new rider, or one who wants something to tinker with to make his (or her) own.
Biker Dash The mid or close pegs are good, I would not get the forward seat. I felt a little close even with the middle egos and I'm 6'. The bar angle is kind of weird so I wish I could have tried drag bars on it! Posting a review this week..
Got the impression that she didn't really like the bike but couldn't say too much negative because she's so friendly with the dealer also essentially there a magazine, mags never give a good review because of the same.

I adore the design! I think they should have turned the front wheel upside down so you steer with the tire, and also maybe remove the seat and add a bright yellow and blue seatbelt on the front lights. The tail lights look great too but I reckom they would be better if you put them at the end of the exhaust. Plus they should remove the back wheel completely. Just my thoughts!
+Strokwor I also liked it, but performance-wise I think it would have made a big difference if they had used inverted gudgeon pins above the inner flanges, and the centrifugal valves are probably several mm too big for the size of the engine. That said, the flotation agitator system works really well and I've always been an admirer of reverse loose-arm pillar rods on this type of bike.
I like this bike, but I can never get over paying so much for a Thai bike. However, our Kawasaki dealer just had the Z1000 *cheaper* than the Ninja 650, so maybe the prices will be more reasonable if and when I decide I want a third bike. The price was a big factor to push me away from the Ninja 650 and get a Hyosung GT650R, which I'm loving, but I hate that I don't get to ride it enough because of work =(
If first bike is a scooter i guess its okay. Its a tired 30 yr old engine design but reliable and low powered for new riders. Bit of a pig, like er6 with same engine. Whats known as a parts bin bike. Machining for these was amortized in the last century so profit margin big.
Yep! Even the Ninja 300, Kawasaki Z650, Z800, or even the Z900 would be good options for you too! Just depends on the riding style you are after. Cruiser, naked bike, or sport.
anybody could modified ninja z800 into cruiser just like this? i mean in my country they have the same price, and we got more powerfull engine in the ninja. but i really need a cruiser ergonomics ride position
Actually, the forks from Honda's Superhawk are fully adjustable conventional 41mm forks. You'll get the benefits of adjustability, and cost you less than springing for a set of USD forks.I also like the wheels from the Superhawk.

Stfu. Its a slow 30 yr old engine design. I work on many of this and er6 with same engine. Slow, handling is vague but reliable old tractor. Its vertical 650 twin. Too tall and too heavy. Stock does 46 to 51hp on dyno, depending on which bike. We stressed it up to 63hp but made it overheat. Its a cheap commuter bike at a cheap price. Machining was amortized last century so mostly profit for kawi.
if honda at least really tried to copy the vulcan they would make something nicer. the rebel is just an unfinished project straight from the drawing board. lots of gaps everywhere and doesn't know if it want's to be a classic or a modern cruiser.
I will never buy a parallell twin cruiser.. Don't see the point. Bought my first V-twin a month or so ago and the primary reason why I wanted one was because of the sound. I guess it's good if you want a torquey, easy to ride bike and absolutely hate loud engines..
Sounds like shes reading Kawi promo brochure. But nice gig to be flown to SoCal for Kawi promo shoot cuz shes a woman rider. Some guy wldnt get same trip even if he knew more about bikes and riding than Barry Sheene.
There was some bike noise, but stock on the Vulcan S doesn't sound that good, it's very quiet. There are good exhaust systsm to remedy that, like Delkovic and plenty of videos where people have them installed. I'd watch those if you want a good sounding Vulcan S.
Was being facetious. I would never market a bike with a woman in the ad. Not because I wouldn't want women buying but I wouldn't want to lose the larger market. Maybe show a guy and girl racing ro running the dragon or something.
Not specifically; to be honest the category of "chick bike" doesn't exist, it all depends on your experience and to some extent your size and weight. However, there are probably "non chick" bikes; the Triumph Rocket 3 springs to mind, at 367 kgs and difficulty reaching the floor on flat feet for those of average height, and the pull on the arms when pulling away with a degree of throttle.

Be secure with your manhood and dont care what people think just because you may not want the fastest death rocket out there. What if you are a short man so does riding a small bike make you a woman now? Height is your basis for sex now? what about engine size? the west is the only part of the world obsessed with power. Look at china and other parts of asia and you only ever see small cc bikes out there but guess what mostly all men riding them. Just depends on the style and the type of riding you intend to do.
