This is my short test ride and review of the 2015 Kawasaki Vulcan S sport cruiser motorcycle. This Vulcan S has the Ninja 650 engine and transmission. It makes more power than the Vulcan 900cc.
I give the bike some accelerations and give my opinion on how it rides.
Demo rides were located at Phoenix Bikefest in Glendale, Arizona.
Filmed with GoPro Hero 3 White in 1080p 30fps with an external microphone.

dude, this review helped me pick the Vulcan s abs as a potential bike. I rode it and now I am waiting on the short fitment accessories. I will be picking it up next Thursday. oh yeahs.....now, if they would make a 750.

highonimmi Glad I could help. It would be cool to see an even higher powered engine put into this frame.

Great video brother. I have always been a "rocket man" personally. But, I turned 40 this year and well the rockets just aren't as comfortable anymore. But this bike kinda offers the best of both worlds. A rocket engine and a comfortable cruiser body and riding type. I appreciate the honesty and unbiased opinion you give. Keep up the good work.

Every Kawasaki bike I have ever owned has the same problem with the shifter. The only way I found to fix it was to shorten the shifter lever. I would cut it in the center, or where it was straight, and shorten it a few inches, and it would help drastically with the shifting. I haven't looked at the Vulcan's yet, and I want to go test ride a Yamaha Bolt.

will u recommend it for a beginner who will be using it for city commute and occasional long trip?. won't be pushing it's speed or anything crazy

could I use this bike for a long distance trip covering highways and back roads?

Only vlogger to compare this to the Scout; two bikes I'm currently debating, but prolly leaning towards the VulcanS now after you made that comment. Have you test ridden the Scout Sixty? Also, you mentioned that your legs were a little far forward. What's your height and the ergo settings on the bike?
@arch417powersports
@arch417powersports 8 лет назад
I haven't ridden the Indian Scout Sixty. Don't get me wrong, both bikes feel nice and light, easy to ride, but the Scout is a lot quicker and has way more power. I am 5'11 and this bike was set up as a standard fit. basically it is in the middle position of handlebars and footpegs.

I had Vulcan 900 Custom, the vibration on the handle bars was insane. I did not like that at all. Also at 70mph and above the bike shake like crazy. I wonder if it's the same in this one. Now I ride Vstar 1300, dream bike!
@arch417powersports
@arch417powersports 9 лет назад
Zohar Lindenbaum Probably not the same. The V-Twin engines usually vibrate quite a bit in the upper RPM range. This is the Ninja 650 Parallel twin which has good power all around and doesn't vibrate like crazy. I owned the 2007 Ninja 650 and it was incredibly smooth over 80 mph... allegedly.

I'm currently riding a KLX 250, have rode a lot bigger but only dirt bikes and sports do you think going from a dirt bike to cruiser is a big adjustment? Thanks mate!
@arch417powersports
@arch417powersports 9 лет назад
Nick Nicholas If you've ridden sport bikes before, it won't be too different. The major difference is where your feet are and how you sit on the bike. It would only take a day or two to get used to the cruiser bikes.

When you hit the 70 mph in the freeway, did you feel it had more power available to put another 20/25 mph without much effort? Assuming yes, do you think a windshield would help with the wind, so those speeds might be more bearable for cruising in highways?
@arch417powersports
@arch417powersports 9 лет назад
_Morgoth_ Yes. These engines have quite a bit of power. I used to have the Ninja 650 (same engine as this Vulcan S) and it would pull hard to about 100 and then start to slow down. I just mentioned that most of the power is in the lower to mid range. A windshield would definitely help but isn't necessary.

it looks like RPM reached to 8-red when you were in 3rd or 4th gear...how is the acceleration like if you're on highway to take over the cars at 60mph? I ride Yamaha FZ6 and thinking to get this bike next 1-2 years (I usually will look for used ones).
@arch417powersports
@arch417powersports 9 лет назад
This bike has a lot of torque and power. It has the Ninja 650 engine so plenty of passing power and it only weights around 500 lbs.
@rcjpth
@rcjpth 9 лет назад
Thanks for the info (as worried I won't get much overtaking power). I will definitely get this bike next 2 years (as used one!) Any info about MPG? Kawa doesn't publish the MPG of this bike..I hope it doesn't do 35 MPG given the small tank like 3.7 gallon tank (mine has 5.1 gallon tank and serves me well for commuting 70 miles/trip and 3 trip/week, hate to fill up every other day!)
@arch417powersports
@arch417powersports 9 лет назад
jay pth when I had my ninja 650, I was probably getting around 35 to 40mpg but it depends on the way you ride.
@p3rrypm
@p3rrypm 9 лет назад
jay pth Depends how you ride it... I'm pretty conservative with my Ninja 650 ABS (2014) most days but, I get a little bit free with it on wide open roads and then it drinks a little more. For me though, I average 45 MPG and this would probably handle it a little better so maybe close to 50.

I remember you testing out a Yamaha Bolt a while back. How does performance on the Vulcan S compare to the Bolt and how does it compare to the Bolt overall?
@arch417powersports
@arch417powersports 9 лет назад
Mort13 I actually haven't ridden the bolt yet, although I would really like to. I did ride the Indian Scout though. Is that the bike you're referring to?
@mort6913
@mort6913 9 лет назад
Yep- that was it. I imagine the Indian has an edge on performance over the Vulcan as far as acceleration goes. How did the Vulcan compare in handling? I'd like to see what you think of the Bolt.
@arch417powersports
@arch417powersports 9 лет назад
Mort13 The Indian felt way more powerful and faster. But I feel like this vulcan handled a little better just because it's a sportier cruiser.

You also said you prefer a naked bike for commuting. Which one do you prefer? Just curious.
@arch417powersports
@arch417powersports 9 лет назад
+sql-lover Hard to choose. I like riding cruisers and I like sporty bikes as well. They are fun in their own ways. It would have to come down to which cruiser and which naked bike do I have to choose between.

Did you ever feel like scratching the pegs or about to? I do not like cruisers but this one has a cute modern look.
@arch417powersports
@arch417powersports 9 лет назад
+sql-lover No. It felt like it had plenty of clearance to the ground. I took some sweeping corners with it and had no problem.

+archinuk417 Thanks for reply! I have always ridden naked or sportbikes hence my question.

"Cagers" WILL pinch in on MCs and bicycles in turns... I DO NOT trust them A-toll especially when the Effers are on the Cell Phone. Ninja 650 Engine...65 HP at around 9000 RPM

would u prefer this or the er6n? i really like both of them
@arch417powersports
@arch417powersports 9 лет назад
Personally, I would choose the ER6N. I've owned the Ninja 650 before (I have old videos on here) and I just like the sport bike style better than the cruisers.

why do some motorcyclists ride so dam close to the other lane all the time? Ive never understood it...Im referring to the guy riding directly in front of the camera
@funkmasterflip
@funkmasterflip 8 лет назад
+mightyelmo I'm in no experience on the streets when it comes to motorcycles, but it is recommended to be on the side close to the lane instead of the center. Mainly is because the center might have oil leaks.
@alexhuff3389
@alexhuff3389 8 лет назад
+mightyelmo You can see ahead around the car in front of you, you can be seen in their mirror, and the traction is better (oil in the center of the lane)
