Helmet camera footage of Matt Morgan testing the full line of 2015 KTM SX bikes on the Hangtown Classic national motocross track.
Bikes included: 125 SX, 150 SX, 250 SX, 250 SXF, 350 SXF, and 450 SXF
Thank you Fator's Suzuki/KTM Motorcycles in Redding, California for inviting me to the track.
125 & 150 SX: Both surprisingly had enough power to pull my 205 lbs around the track. The 125 screams. You can just pin it wide open everywhere and feather the clutch. The 150 had a great power band, however, unless you know when it's coming, you might find yourself bogging the bike.
250 SX: This bike has a lot of bark and plenty of torque. Handles great, but I prefer the 4-strokes over this 2-stroke, because this one will wear you out unlike the 4-strokes where you can roll on the throttle and cornering is smoother.
250 SXF: I was a little disappointed in the power. While it had all the great traction a 4-stroke delivers, I wanted more every time I came out of a corner or approached a jump.
350 SXF: This was my favorite by a long shot. Amazing traction, handling, perfect range of power. You don't have to pay too much attention as to which gear you are in because it will power through corners and jumps regardless. My lap times were significantly faster on this bike.
450 SXF: Holy power demon! I have a new appreciation for the Pros after riding this bike. This bike has all the benefits of the 350 SXF, but more power, a lot more. Enough to get you into trouble.
Summary of testing: If you can handle the power of the 450 SXF, go for it, but if you are less than a Pro level rider, I suggest the 350 SXF. The 350 was all around the best bike for cornering, handling, and range of power.
