In this episode, we are testing the Prolong Consumer Kit from Hybrid Automotive to see if we can get this Lexus CT200h battery working again.

Great video. What was the total time required to do the entire process? Start to finish.

Excellent question it took me about 5 days total doing it in my spare time. The first 2 days were spent checking modules then building the pack. The next 3 were spent reconditioning it. 100% worth it.

I ordered the prolong kit with the simple discharger BUT I keep missing the time window for the correct step down discharge, no matter how much I am setting timers and checking the voltage. My mother says pay the $299 for the unit with the timer. I justified not doing that because I wanted to learn more about battery reconditioning, I am an Electrical Engineer. Now I feellike, I f I am gonna offer this service in las vegas that I may be bettery off getting teh discharge unit which turns itself off when the voltage is reached. what is your feedback/experience. @@uzomarosejust gotta do it. It was the best decision I made to learn. I now repair them and also rock the Nexpower lithium. In my opinion unless you’re really hard up the money is best spent converting to lithium and ditching nickel. But happy to help you either way.

What do you think is more important, getting the right modules into the right order in the pack, or the charge/discharge cycles? I suspect the former is more important than the latter.

The most important thing is choosing modules that will work with each other. You need to know IR, VD and resting voltage. Cycling is also very important as well. Pack position is important but not mission critical

how long does it take to discharge on each voltage??

thank you so much, always educational videos. how do you know which ones are good or bad when you used the prolongpro module tester? also how long does it take to do each individual cells on this test??@@TheHybridGuy

@@thalesserra5557 ⁠you are most welcome. You are testing for international resistance, voltage drop and capacity. You want to have low internal resistance 19 milli ohms or less but I’ve had success with 22-24 milli ohms and still made the battery work. You want to have a low voltage drop less than .5 I deal but again I’ve made modules work with higher voltage drop. You want the modules you are using to be uniform and balanced that will keep the master warning light off. Ideal conditions are low IR low VD and capacity over 5 amp hours. But again that’s ideal if you are looking for max performance.
