2015 MacBook Pro With Retina Display Vs 2015 Macbook Air - Which One Should You Get? 

If only MacBook Air had retina display it would be the perfect laptop. Hope they make it happen.

Last night I dreamed I had a MacBook pro retina. I have a serious problem with apple right now.

I wish the air had those black bezels

Mac Air is lighter and has a more efficient battery, but Mac Pro is faster, has better graphics, more ports, and force touch. If I had to choose, which I do since school is right around the corner, it would be the Mac Pro. The battery of the Mac Air is only better by a couple hours, and the weight doesn't matter much since it will be sitting on a desk the whole day. Mac Pro, for me personally, definitely takes the gold in this face off.

absolutely phenomenal review. I find that a lot of reviewers do not review software, and only focus on specs and numbers and hardware. This review style is IDEAL. awesome job! I also loved how you went into detail on the display as this is a major point left out from most reviewers.

I just got the MacBook Pro and love it. This is going to be my laptop throughout college and I think it's definitely worth it to get the more powerful device. Yes, it's about $300 more expensive. However, if you are willing to spend $1000 on a laptop, you might as well save the extra $300 to go ahead and get the Pro. Amazing display, more compact design, new trackpad(which is amazing by the way), and the extra HDMI port were enough to make me pitch in an extra few hundred bucks. Battery life may not be as good as the Air, but it is still pretty astounding. I would totally recommend the MacBook Pro with retina display.

My wife and I have 2010 versions of MBA and MBP. Her MBP is starting to show some signs of age so we are looking at replacing it and the A vs. P discussion doesn't have a clear cut answer. As much as i dislike aplle, i think macbooks are some of the best laptops. I just hate the fact they are so expensive.

got my macbook pro retina 13in few weeks ago and love it. Will never go back to windows.Its a quality laptop and retina display its incredible. new touchpad its so good when you start using it then you know what I'm talking about. I got it mine after Christmas for good price on sale. highly recommend !

Thank you, that was a very clear and neutral comparison. I just noticed I don't need a MacBook Pro for my university. I need a long battery life, something with low weight and fast boots.

For me, no contest I'd go for the pro, just because without being too heavy and while maintaining most of the battery life enjoyed by the Air, it throws in a ton more power, not to mention that gorgeous screen. On both of them, though, I love that 9GB file transfer and also their ability to drive a 4k 60hz monitor, though wish they were stronger on graphics (but happy that's improved by a big bump since the last generation and expect it to do so next time around, too).

Ughhh, I still can't make up my mind!

you should do some more benchmarks with El capiten which now includes metal so it should be faster for the CPU

This channel is definitely my favourite when it comes to indepth Mac reviews. I tweeted you about a month ago (we speculated on the Apple Spring Forward event) asking what would suit my needs more - the Air or Pro Retina... I still can't decide! I am a multi-tasker but only with numerous web tabs. I don't edit photos/film or create music, + really the only game I'd be curious to try out is the Sims 3 (casual gamer or what?). I would be using my Macbook for web browsing (lots of youtube), watching TV/films, emails, Skyping, writing a dissertation(!) + storing my music/photos. Speaking of storage, I'm going to get an external hard-drive since I realise Macbooks fall down slightly when it comes to storage space. I would enjoy the portability, but tbh, I stood in the Apple Store with a Pro in one hand + an Air in the other + didn't feel much of a difference in weight. So what do you think? Air or Pro Retina? If Air, would it be worth upgrading the processor to the 2.2GHz or would the 1.6 (turbo-ing to 2.7) do me just fine? Argh. First world problems! Any help would be greatly appreciated MW Technology Thanks!

Is macbook pro good enough if im going to use it for school works like python programming, weka, R, Matlab?

How is the benchmark difference between the macbook air and pro so small? The pro has 2x the ram, and a 2,7 processor compared to 1,6. Is it because when the benchmark apps are running both go into turbo boost?

I've been thinking about getting a pro 15 inch model, but I wanted to get better specs such, with more storage and a 4.0 Intel processor, is it worth the extra money?

I have had a 13 inch Air for about 9 months now. It is a really good machine and I am still very happy with it. I got it because at the time, it was the only ultraportable laptop with 14 hours run time per charge (the battery has worn in now, so I get close to 11). I was also going to be doing college work along side high school and I needed something really portable for all my school work needs. It did everything I asked of it, but I think that the Pro is a better machine. It has a better screen and more power going for it. And while it was cool to get around 14-15 hours of battery life at the time on something so thin, I'm going to wait to do college full time and just be a high school student. So much less stress and more freedom. :) I don't really need the Air anymore and I plan on selling the Air in a few more months after I have enough saved up to get the 13 inch Pro. I still need something portable, as I am still a student, but I am also getting into programming and need more power. The Air does a lot just fine, but more power means more work gets done faster. And the screen is awesome on the Pros too.

What one do you think I should chose I will use it for stuff like RU-vid and gaming and also school

I'm in sales and have 5-6 programs running plus outlook I need performance and I have a Sony vaio i7 but the performance is slower than my sons MBA2015 it's i5 I'm wondering if apple will have a new model for Christmas and I should just wait to get the MBP i7 then...i wanted to keep the same Intel level but it's super expensive

Nice video, good info. I thought I was sold on the Air mostly due to price, size & it's still very capable but for only $300 mot you get a way better machine. The pro is probably more than I'll need as I'm just using it for normal stuff but if I ever decide to sell, the pro will do better. Still a little unsure though, 98% pro, 2% air. Any final ideas?

Is the Air still worth buying in December 2017 or should I squeeze the wallet for the 2015 MB Pro? I wouldn't be using it for more than general web browsing and office suite work, plus I travel all the time, so weight and battery life are more important to me than power. My concern with the Air is that it might be discontinued from next year. Would that affect the product in any way in terms of Apple support or OS updates and stuff like that?

Good comparison, but when you're trying to show difference in sounds like the different trackpad clicks, try not talking over it so we can really hear what you're trying to demonstrate.

Hey MW Technology, I'm looking for an apple computer that is able to run programs like that of programs like that of Dreamweaver, premier, Photoshop, AutoCAD and Microsoft products, would the Mac Book Pro be good enough to be able to run all those programs smoothly? My current computer is a Pentium and at the time when I bought it, I wasn't aware that I would be needing these larger programs on the computer.

I am confused whether to buy the air or pro. I am a college student. And I like the air because it is lighter and I can cary it around. But the storage is kinda small compared to the pro. But I am only going to use it for research, assignments, paper work, etc and THE SIMS. IDK IF THAT will make the macbook air slower?

I'm looking for a MacBook either Pro or Air, you let me know. I do photography so Lightroom and Photoshop will be needed, also basic video edition on Premiere Pro. I want a Retina Display one but I want to customize the MB like a 2012, I don't know much about this Apple MacBooks so I came here for help. I have a Samsung SSD 850 Evo 500GB and I want to know if is possible to install it on one of the MBs? (without considering the 2012 model without retina display). i have both computers, i can say Macbook air is more pleasant to work with for everyday use web browsing. Also i like its design more. The screen is not big issue when you look the display straight.
