♦️FUN FACTS: First off, though this vid was released in 2015, it's from the 2014 MAMA Awards! Block B were already established then, BTS was just starting out! JIMIN, who ripped off his top exposing his upper torso, doing that Taekwondo flip (has Blackbelt), had tattoos that were put on as promo hints to BTS next album! BTS has done this since the very beginning, giving hints to their next album, series, or era, during these annual huge award shows, like MAMA & MMA awards. Jimin yrs later, actually got NEVERMIND tattoo put on the exact same place, because he loved Suga's so meaningful, inspiring intro song Nevermind that I highly recommend checking out! ZICO, who's name was actually titled along with his song on screen, is not only leader of Block B, but has been close friends with RM since way back when they both rapped underground before they became idols!! Zico is not only a phenomenal rapper he's also, a quite successful producer, highly respected!!

Those underground rappers who dissed RM and Suga in 2013 for "selling out" and not being considered authentic artists just because they became idols will NEVER come over to your channel to have a mature discussion on the issue. Because they themselves already approached/joined music labels when they realized that remaining underground won't pay the bills. Furthermore respected artists like Epik High, Tiger JK and Seo Taijj have since vouched for BTS' authenticity, and those dissers were of much less caliber. Gosh I haven't heard the word "gabardine" in the longest time! Heehee

I have a theory about the whole B-Free dissing Suga/RM when they debuted. Honestly, if RM and Suga never joined Big Hit or BTS, they would've still been famous because they were both known on the underground circuit, especially RM. Because of this, they could've revolutionized the underground rap scene in Korea, but they left and I think older underground rappers felt some type of way about it because they were excited about where the scene was going. I don't look at B-Free as just a hater. He was a fan who was disappointed and that was a very predictable and lame way to express his anger. The unique thing about the rap line though is they have intentionally kept a very distinct hip hop flavor to the group no matter how successful BTS gets. They have stayed true to their roots, which probably intimidates and infuriates some rappers who know that they wouldn't stand a chance against them today.

I don’t know anything about music theory or technicalities of rapping, I don’t even listen to rapping or hip hop normally, BTS and Eminem being the only exceptions I like. The thing is ... ( and naturally I have been exposed to lots of this genre and other Kpop because of BTS, it was simply inevitable, so I have some reference points when making my own comparisons) ... what I have to say, to my “layman’s ear” a big advantage of both RM’s and Suga’s is their very, very unique, easily recognisable and distinct voices. RM has such an incredible, god given commanding, respect inducing deep, resonant voice you simply have to pause everything you are doing and just listen. 🙏 Energy about RM is all stoic lion and an elephant - calm, powerful, wise - kings of its habitat. With Suga what I learnt to love so much about is his little trademarks - tonality to his voice that brings shivers every time he opens his mouth, his subtle lisp, his voice urgency and explosive emotional expressiveness, his winy, screechy vowels at the end of words, his sneering, condescending energy... Suga is a wolf or a high flying hawk to me - with piercing cold presence, always untamed, uncompromising, courageous, aloof, solitary, independent. 👍 It is funny how animalistic they feel when they rap😜

fun fact i didnt see ppl mention, there was a rapper who kept doing diss tracks about bts. and RM, night before the show, decided to write a new rap to address the other rapper (bobby from ikon)... there’s no beef betw them. but rm basically said his skill is subpar while rapping in between the beats which is considered a “high difficulty” thing in k-hiphop. of course, rm got reprimanded by his company afterwards for changing his rap so last minute haha

Why do fans like you like to keep lying to people? It's bad enough that you guys made RM believe that Bobby was dissing him when he wasn't. Bobby was talking about BAD idol rappers in general not specific ones. Rappers who weren't that good and only rapped because they couldn't sing. Bobby was fighting against underground rappers who looked down on him for being an idol rapper. He never mentioned anyone specifically and before you bring up the whole bulletproof thing BTS don't own the word "bulletproof" and Bobby was talking about the movie Man from nowhere with Won Bin. Don't put words in his mouth!

Jennifer ...dude chill. my point flew over your head. i was taking about how much skill it takes it is to basically change his rap last minute, also to address rap beef. i didnt say anything negative about bobby.... your perception is affected by other ppl probably bashing your fave but dont bring it into this conversation. it’s not a bad thing to have rap beef... you beef w others in your rap verses. it doesnt always have to be direct callouts to know the insinuation. usually that makes the rapper more “skilled” if they can refer to someone in their bars without using that rapper’s name. it’s common practice. bobby himself said in an interview he wanted to being about the hiphop practice of rap battling into the idol rapper sphere. a bunch of idol rappers also shot back. it’s not a big deal... at least not in hiphop. so please. unclench. listen to hiphop. this is a hiphophead’s yt channel, please use the appropriate lens to read comments before you butt in

If it had actually happened I wouldn't be here wasting my breathe arguing but the fact still remains that it didn't actually happen. Show me where Bobby said he was dissing RM. Also you're right other people did also release things of their own like Ravi from VIXX and SIM but I don't see their fans bringing it up over and over again.

I see the point and understand what Emfishi is getting at and it's true Rap beef is common practice which are continuously brought up in HipHop especially because some of those battles are considered legendary. I don't know anything about this particular situation but I do agree that, as an EMCee, that it takes an incredible amount of skill to be able to not only change it last minute, but give it the delivery and energy worthy of the stage to the audience. I also see your point and frustration Jennifer when dealing with subjects That get twisted into turmoil and misunderstood or just straight misinterpreted even when the facts are presented the lie continues. I think it's sometimes, in my opinion that the hot topic is always the one that is most dramatic and once that blows out of proportion nobody cares what the truth is anymore and it's sad. Just my observation of the subject. BTW, I'm not referring to either of you I'm just speaking in general. 😁😁😁🙏🏾⛩️

Bobby from iKon had dissed RM and BTS a number of times and RM said he felt like they needed to at least respond so he did this, changing his rap to talk about it in front of everyone at MAMA. RM said that, when he got off the stage, Bobby told him he enjoyed the performance and they complimented each other! Sometime later, at a press conference for iKon, Bobby was specifically asked why he kept dissing BTS and Bobby said Yang Hyunsuk (then head of YG Entertainment, iKon's agency) should answer. The belief from then on was that Bobby didn't have any personal beef with BTS but that it was actually YG who made Bobby do that. So we shouldn't have any ill feelings towards Bobby. He sounds like he was actually a nice guy to BTS when he had the chance to be. 💜

Zico is top idol rapper and one of the reasons that people take idol rappers seriously now. You should check his solo work he does a lot of genres and produces his own music (also did for blockb). He and RM were good friends when they were both underground rappers.

BlockB chose a very popular song that makes you bounce in your seat and performed a pleasant PG-13 dance. And BTS chose high octane battle music and pushed the envelope by performing jaw dropping memorable moves. It’s dance battle where the primary goal is to leave a deep impression of supremacy. Everyone remembered JHope and Jimin after that

Zico was not in the Epik High video you saw. Mino from Winner was...also fun fact, he was actually supposed debut in Block B...and is best friends with the members. I'd highly recommend Block B and their solo and unit stuff. Zico always tries something different...he has songs that are more pop and then he goes and does a Fanxy Child song and you just sit there like..."how can they be the same person?" It's truly so cool as a fan to see all of his versatility.

Mahima Varkey lol underground rap and battle rap is different. RM never did battle rapping. Yoongi did both. This has been stated by them. It’s important to know the difference.

I know I'm way late to the party, but I just wanted to throw out a line! So far I'm LOVING your reactions! I just want to quickly speak on your brief comments about the rap "battle" between RM and Zico (yes thats who that was, good job!). I'm sure someone below me in the comments already mentioned that Zico and RM used to be in a rap group together when they were both underground rappers, so what I'll focus on in my comment here is that Zico is actually a REALLY great rapper/writer/producer on his own. He actually founded his own company called KOZ (King of the Zungle). I highly, HIGHLY encourage you to check out Zico's work, he is really versatile and wins my heart over because he writes and produces all of his own work just like RM (and the rest of BTS). Though BTS will always be my absolute #1, Zico as a solo artist is very high on my list of Korean musical artists and I will always vouch for his music. @@wildlotus4339 Oh, I would think so. I mean, BTS as 2011 trainees made the news with their self-produced song (Paldogangsan), and that is pretty remarkable. Also, I was watching a Korean dance director talk about how his teacher was helping to train 5-6 different boy groups pre-debut, including BTS, and apparently he was telling people that the one he thought was best was BTS. And then there's that investor that helped to save BigHit who made his decision to do so after talking to the trainees at other, non-BigHit agencies, to get a sense of what BTS's reputation was like. So between the reporters, trainees, dance teaches, and investors, I think people like Yang had to have known and seen their potential/competition. It's too bad, really. the company has some very talented and hard-working people, but Yang himself appears to be pretty awful.

@@wildlotus4339 I think you're right. He has some truly great artists at YGE and yet they don't seem adequately nurtured, IMHO. I was hoping that, after he had to resign, that things will change there, but I haven't really seen that. I just hope the people there, especially the artists, are doing okay and that they can turn things around. Their financial numbers for 2019 Annual and for 2020 First Quarter were really really bad, unfortunately.

But this was a whole group reaction too. He might do that after getting into the rapline there's soo much rapline content that he doesn't know and remember that he is a hip hop guy so in BTS their hip hop side appeals more to him, as it does for me, I love BTS' singers specially Jimin but the strongest side of BTS is the rapline for sure, to me they are my favorite vocaline too because of how distintive are their voices from each other but their rapline is what made me an Army 💜, and I really wish he could get into all their rapline music that he hasn't got into first, and I love how he appreciates them being hip hop (I'm still waiting for the Hip Hop Lover reaction, where they talk about how they got into it), I find annoying how there's still people in America who thinks BTS is a group of 7 bubble gum pop singers, like the 'Korean One Direction' wich they isn't like that at all! And to find someone like Monq who can see that side of them, their talent as rappers for me it's gold. I really think he should start with the rapline and then the singers and BTS as a whole group, this is my opinion too and I respect your respectful opinion fellow Army 😁💜 (sorry for my english, I'm only fluent on spanish 😅)

When I explain the reason why BTS' rapline is stronger in BTS, and that their vocaline isn't strong it sounded bad to be honest. Let me explain it like this, I think BTS rapline is stronger than BTS vocaline, does that sounded better? Because that was my whole point. And also you took only that comment from my whole response, kinda conveniant 😊 Saying BTS' rapline is stronger than their vocaline is for me saying like EXO for example have a stronger vocaline than a rapline, and I'm telling you this as an Army, not even a Kpop fan, I am a casual listener. Please check out (G)i-dle. that group has a real hiphop girl named Soyeon, she joined unpretty rapstar, she's a monster when it comes to diss battle. they have a hiphop song called 'uh-oh', it's a boombap hiphop style written and produced by themselves you can also check out their latest 'oh my god', they made that song by themselves too.

Just be aware, if you aren't already, that this was just for fun, a staged & choreographed "battle", which is why "Fight of the Century" was totally obnoxious, in the same way some sports events usually use that same moniker or some other one like "Best Team in the World" or "universe" or whatever. I don't & haven't listened to Block B, except for what was in this mock battle, so cannot express an opinion of their overall concept & sound, . I believe some of the BlockB members are currently in military service, which potentially is also going to happen to members of BTS in the near future, beginning with Jin, unless something is going to obstruct that process.

Hi...do you ever listen to Dreamcatcher before? They are the most underrated girl group in Kpop music industry..bcos their music genre and concept is differ from all others group. Dreamcatcher is more rock metal of genre and much more experimental with their instrument (esp physical instrument) They are well know for their anime vibe bcos of such mixture genre. Unique and Versatile.. Recommend: Endless Night (Jap release)

This battle was weirdly picked since block b are mostly rappers and don’t give a F about dancing even tho they can dance. Zico Mino Bobby GD and TOP are mostly the idols rappers that are “acknowledged “ by the underground scene. No matter how bts fans wants to say otherwise. Despite coming from the underground scene they’re not really acknowledged by them since they remain doing « commercial » rap and not really crossing the line between the underground scene and kpop like the other did. I would love to see them on a real battle/ freestyle tho I’m really curious

As a BTS fan I wouldn't say that, why I would lie? I'm here to enjoy BTS' rapline at their best and I love to see them solo projects that are becoming known not only in their country but also worldwide like Daechwita/D2 for example. Not being "respected" by your own country's hip hop doesn't make you less of an MC, and btw I get what you said with the "commercial rap" but I wouldn't consider Agust D a commercial rapper, and you can see it on his last project, now if you talk about how they deliver their rap in the BTS' songs, specially with their singles, you are absolutely correct, because they still a Kpop group not a K Hip Hop group. That's why I love how Monq talks about BTS rapline, specially RM he seems to know a lot about what a real MC is because of his experience, he can tell if someone is an MC or not despite not knowing the language or the culture of that country or regarding what other people say, in this case when a lot of people say that BTS' rapline aren't hip hop.

Well being commercial and staying true to the culture are two different things. Underground is simply a word used to describe any art that had not crossed over into a wider audience. Being underground doesn't define you as being an EMCee nor does it make you a HipHop head for not crossing over. The idea that BTS can be in the mainstream light and STILL maintain not only creative control but the essence of the culture gives them that title if they choose to flash that card which they ABSOLUTELY have the ability to do. Sorry I was getting my son ready so I didn't get a chance to finish but... People for some reason associate being underground with HipHop culture because that's where we started but it's Global and literally the foundation of allot of evolved genres and art today I know Graffiti artist who are rich from making paintings for high end clients. That doesn't discredit their history or the bricks they have laid for others simply because they have captured the attention of more prestigious clients. As long as they maintain their soul and have not sold it to gain they are pure. It's only when an artist will opt to compromise himself and his art for the dollar, that the culture will shun him. Please, refrain from talking without having all the facts. While GD and Bobby don't originate from the underground scene like the others mentioned here Bobby is still one of the top idol rappers who are respected in the underground scene while GD is the only idol whose song is listed in Korean music critic Kim Bong-Hyun's book of most influencial hip hop songs from 1989-2016, naming it one of the 28 tracks that shaped the genre. GD is without doubt respected in khip hop. Many rappers, not idol rappers, are inspired by him. So no GD, Mino and Bobby are not just "commercialized rappers trained by their company" as you said.

I've been hip-hop since day one and US OVER HERE have a big standard he didn't meet the criteria when I first heard him YES WOW. since I got to hear him more I started to see her actually had something to say.
