A lot of people may not even know that Mitsubishi still makes a midsized SUV, since the Outlander is kind of overshadowed by its competitors from Chrysler, Ford, and GM, as well a Nissan and Toyota, but that most certainly doesn't mean that it's not worth a look! (:
I love the simplicity of the look of the Outlander. So many brands are on the gaudy side which doesn't by any means make it a better vehicle IMO. This SUV also does great off road. My favorite though is the Outlander Sport which I think looks great and handles and drive very well, especially with the 2.4 engine.
I drove both this and a Toyota Highlander. High end Highlander is slightly wider and longer and offers captain's seats for the second row, a cool option. But the Outlander is a nimbler ride and less like driving a big boat than the Highlander. If you are looking at this for it's smaller size while still having a 3rd row also check out the Subaru Outback.
Actually I just bought one about a month ago and it is a great vehicle for the price for what you get as opposed to what other manufactures offer is a great deal and......the rockford fosgate sounds great what were you listening to? I see you work at kia better not review one of their vehicles with a biased opinion!
Thanks for sharing with engine running! first mitsu and bought from one owner with 17 thousand miles. thought engine was a bit loud but see now that it is just a mitsu trait. So far so good. not impressed with the rockford system. mine has navi. its better then stock but does have long load times for 32 gig usb drives and in our case we both have identical drives. my gf drive loads ok but slow. mine not at all. but then mine has like 7 different music folders where hers has maybe 3 with only about a quarter of drive filled where as mine is just under 3/4. not impressed with the head unit at all. hd radio also sounds a bit grainy where as in her lancer, the kenwood walmart hd sounds cd quality. the factory 10" sub in outlander lacks as well but still sounds better then without. they probably use the cheapest they can find and upgrading would do head unit some justice.
Is it my imagination or does it seem Mitsubishi has thrown in the car making towel? Just seems like a matter of time before they pull out of the US market. They made nice sedans back n the late 1980's - early 90's; some sucess with the early 2000's montero; and everybody had an eclipse lol. The only thing keeping them afloat now is the long in the tooth lancer.
