***** Not really Taken was a movie that was about someone being actually kidnapped. Then badass guy goes and get that person back. This seems like the directors thought that if someone else got kidnaped it would be boring and become repetitive and would annoy audiences and decided to change the whole premiss of the film. To shoehorn out loots from the franchise fans.
only one comic book hero would win if there was an all out war. The Hulk. seriously everytime he gets hurt he is supposed to get bigger, faster, stronger all his abilities are increased. so basically he is just unstoppable. yet they make him out to be not that great in the movies. he is still amazing in movies but not as great as he should be.
Most likely because it's hard to make a movie interesting using a superhero that's too powerful like the Hulk. I mean his only weakness really is when he's a human and loses control of himself.
***** exactly, i mean come on superman would destroy the hulk especially if your talking about Superman Prime who's basically a GOD even though the hulk is an awesome character and would give sups a run for his money
batman maybe but he'd have a seriously difficult time dealing with superman unless he figured out about kryptonite and how to get some cus then he'd take him out real quick.
Jeremiah Brooks well in the comic books, i believe (dont quote me) superman gives batman kryptonite because superman knows if superman gets out of control due to the red kryptonite batman will make the right decision and stand up to superman. so ultimately due to that batman will always win cause he can just keep kryptonite in his utility belt or something lol
Look at the connections you can draw just from this batch of movies...Thor in several of them. Jupiter Ascending is basically Thor with different people. They try VERY hard to make another Loki happen. The leading lady in Thor was Portman. Her disciple in Black Swan was Kunis and is now the equivalent of Portman's character from Thor in Jupiter Ascending.
their are only about 36 distinct core plots in all of human history and a bunch of them aren't even used that much anymore. Every story you ever heard is just a variant or fusion of these core plots archive.org/details/thirtysixdramati00polt their are other people who try to describe the core plots of literature and they usually give less but I like Georges Polti the best because its impossible to think of a story that doesn't have at least 1 of his plots Writers do it with characters too. They usually start with an archetype and like a block of marble start chipping away till a fully flesh character comes out en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_stock_characters now why Natalie Portman, Chris Hemsworth, Mila Kunis, and etc are in those movies, well that just the movie companies way to playing it safe its allways smarter to go with some well known and liked than some nobody that might fuck it up
qazwsxedc562 Yeah, aside from all that core plot thing...this is just extremely obvious carbon-copy film-(and as you point out, deal-)making, not an "accident" by any means.
Brax1982 the core plot thing was the point of the comment basically I'm saying you're excepting something new and their really hasn't been anything new in a couple thousand years
qazwsxedc562 I understood perfectly fine. There is a huge difference between expecting something new and this daisy-chain of blatant copy and in-house deals. I know that you understand that, too.
BritchesBumble57 IKR …the "highly skilled ex-operative" cliche is getting so damn old…..I can name a good 40 movies that used the same idea all the way back to the 80's "Commando" Hollywood has really ran out of new original ideas ..smh
AlwaysBonpoint No problem ..every Steven Seagall movie "out for justice" and so on. Rambo was also about a high skilled all powerful ex-Vietnam vet so I've got 3 there already. How about Bruce Willis' RED , two more movies, Wasn't Denzel a CIA operative also in "Man on Fire" ? then the Bourne series with Matt Damon, Argo , Mission Impossible, Salt with Angelina Jolie, Enemy of the State, the Recruit, Safe House , Law abiding citizen should I continue?? take a seat please. Syriana, Green zone , the expendables, Two Guns , White House down , traitor , In the line of fire , the siege , assassins, the forgotten , the specialist, the interpreter , US. Marshalls ..ok I have to take a dump right now sorry
ALTO CALIBRE It took me a while to process all that but you make a good point, but I'm still a sucker for the concept. There's nothing like a good revenge movie with a anti hero protagonist with skills and a dark troubled past.
Anyone else agree that Nicholas Cage is perhaps the worst actor alive? Rivaled only by Kevin Costner? Worst actor that gets big parts regularly, I mean. Christ, remember that TRAVESTY 'Dances with Wolves' - the one that won all the Academy Awards? SOMEONE must like these guys! But who!?!?
The Bodyguard, Waterworld, Robin Hood were movies which whole generations can remember watched in their childhood. Nicholas Cage playd also in movies like 8mm or Con Air, Kick Ass which were actually well made. Its just poor choice of Roles which makes this characters seem to be losing their acting skills. Which is not true.
Thats all on you. He is actually a great actor. Want the reason why you think he is a crappy actor? he fell into the money pit of fame. Boom he does an awesome movie with great acting and now directors would automatically choose him over anyone else. So Nick takes the easy way to millions by applying for basically any movie and of course any movie he wants like Ghost Rider, that was all on him. He knew the movie will blow but he also knew there is cash and the name Ghost Rider over his head.
the best bit about this is the originality of the Avengers trailer "there are no strings on me" unlike "i am the darkness..." etc etc i llove the trailer
In the Heart of the Sea is going to trouble me. I have this discomfort for large bodies of water that are prone to swelling (rising/ falling) to unfathomable heights. The size, scope, and scale of Moby will only further push me to the edge of an anxiety attack. Can't wait to watch it!
+ALTO CALIBRE From someone that is doing a film studies degree (and I do watch a lot of classic stuff , film noir and indie) I would disagree with your comment.
Apparently she has said she does these because the kiddies like them !..so when something like "Under the Skin" and "Chef" comes along, these are real movies with something to say that's original !!...she aint Jennifer Aniston !!
Any movie directed by Michael Mann, Ron Howard, and George Miller is on the best list movie to see at the cinemas for me in 2015. The others are second choice. Looking forward to an exciting seafaring adventure on the big screen. All we need is a good old fashion western too.
Todas las películas de acción de Hollywood son IGUALES ahora, muchas explosiónes, monstruos, efectos y una pareja que se conocío en el pasado y se reencuentra en la acción de la película....NADA NUEVO, NADA DIFERENTE YA -_-
What the, Chris Hemsworth! You have certainly been busy. I think he's doing a good job riding out the fame that came from the Thor and Avengers movies, pushing out a lot of good looking movies.
jupiter ascending looks class..... except for channing tatums elf make up also Djimon Hounsou and Noah Taylor have to be the most underrated actors of all time
