The level of preparedness is astonishing. Some of bolts were in nearly inaccessible locations. The effortless reassembly. Just beautiful to watch a master tradesman at work. Especially without a ramp!
Hello Kevin, another great video of a master of his trade. I think it's well worth mentioning also, the huge effort you put in, in getting all the camera footage of virtually every nut and bolt you undo! Fantastic job, well done Sir!
I've just stumbled upon your videos. I served my time as a diesel mechanic, working on lorrys and plant. Never really worked on cars much. I gave up the spanners to go driving JCBs and lorrys years ago but still go back on the tools now and again to keep my hand in. Good job mate, you know what you're doing. 👍
You caught me out with the short piece of the gearbox being out after 5 minutes 😂😂 I had to check I hadn't fast forward it by mistake quality. Stay safe.. Gazza
Lovely bolt in the bellhousing behind the dpf on these pieces of lovely scrap!! Why!! Fair play mate i'm a mobile mechanic myself and the struggle is real
Thank you I did our 107 today and with your tips from your video it really helped. I could have done with that heater though as it was bloody cold. Keep up the great work mate.
@@WMCS My pleasure- ive only changed around 8 times the clutch, at 3 cars till now so i have an idea of how hard it is......so your work is much appreciated !
Do you ever have bolts snap/become seized when carrying out this work? Happens regularly in my part of the country. For example I had all 3 bolts securing the ball joint to the wishbone snap yesterday. I wondered what you’d do in this scenario. Excellent as always. Will
Hey William. Very very rarely, maybe once every two years. I use lots of WD40. The simple trick is just break off the crust of the rust. For each half turn off, a full turn back on.
Did you forget to write the mileage of the car and for what reason was the car repaired?I really want to see the replacement of the clutch on the Citroen Berlingo B9 eHDI with robot gearbox
hello, I really appreciate your professionalism. Is it necessary to respect the tightening torque of the flywheel? and to mount the clutch do you have to lock the flywheel? thank you for your feedback and good luck,
If unsure then yes., for me personally I do it everyday so I’ve gotten used to how much is enough .. Again with pressure plate it’s better if you lock, if it spins while you’re doing it up., it will go on the reverse on timing side with a very good chance of jumping the timing
I have been watching your videos and I find incredible how you manage to replace clutches on jack stands anywhere. Do things usually go wrong, like a wrong part, something breaks ... and you have the problem of not being able to finish the job in the same day ?
Another great job carried out in a very efficient way, have you ever done a clutch and flywheel replacement on a semi automatic 1.6 hdi C4 Picasso? I've got one to do on Monday, I've done the manual one's but never a semi auto! Probably not much difference but the release bearing looks like it has a wear indicator built in! Going to be a challenge on their driveway!
@@WMCS did that semi auto job what a nightmare it was, had to reprogram the gearbox, use diagnostic equipment to bleed the clutch, and do a re learn on road test so that the car knew where biting point of clutch was, hoping to not get another semi auto c4 picasso 1.6 hdi again in a hurry! 🤣
Did you correct the amount of Brakefluid after Bleeding? It could be a problem to have too much Fluid in the system. Because of war,img up the Break and expanding Fluid.
@@WMCS Hi mate. Sorry its the Corsa model I meant, the E is 2015+. I know you've done a 2009 corsa 1.3 diesel with is a 'corsa D'. And a 2010 1.4l astra on your channel. I presume they won't be too dissimilar to these. But if you've done a Corsa 2015+ it would be great to see! Cheers again!
Ever considered the m12 battery ratchet? Could help you whip the cover bolts out quickly, I’ve even managed to get some flywheel bolts out with one too
Hello, amazing job done here, but can you please estimate total time needed for the whole replacement in hours, as I got a quote in Norway of 12 working hours in order to replace the clutch and dual mass flywheel on the same model. (in GBP 2.472,- Valeo parts and labor) Thanks in advance.
hi Kevin. another great video. I have a Peugeot 2008 2016. in 4th gear at 2500 revs and accelerating I'm getting a very low flapping, rattling nosie just below the drivers footwell.Peugeot told me it was the flexi pipe that needed changing did this but no joy, changed the o/s drive shaft but still the same.could this be a gear box problem. any help advice would be appreciated.
Not sure if possible. But if you do a recording with your phone in the footwell I can at least try and eliminate a gearbox fault. WhatsApp it over and I’ll have a listen.
@@WMCS hi thanks for your reply.i will try and record this tomorrow. the noise may not be loud enough but is certainly there and slowly getting worse.someone not knowing the car probably wouldn't hear it.if I can't get it diagnosed ill sell it on there's only 50,000 on the clock
I have peugeot 508 1.6 e-hdi 84kw semi automatic 2013. p.year. Had problem with when lift of brake and taking of in first gear or reverse, hit can be felt but no vibration, and when i realse throtle while driving in first, second, third or fourth gear jolt like if i was hit the brakes then it goes in normal engine braking. First i replaced all engine and gearbox mounts. Then i bought new clutch kit (DMF, clutch and slave bearing). And replaced all in citoren garage. They allso replaced seal behind DMF, axle seal, new gearbox oil and hydraulics oil for gearbox acutators. Now hit is felt a bit less, but there is vibration when i am taking of in first gear or reverse, that jolt when i realse throtle whlie driving is still there. Also there is ticking sound when from gearbox when is warmed that before have not been heard.
Amazing job. My son has a similar car his clutch slave cylinder went. Is it inside the gearbox as he had a new dual mass flywheel and clutch at the same time. It cost over£1400. How the hell do you keep knowing where all the bolts go? I’m sure I would lose one!
Hi Kev, do you do clutch/flywheel replacements for Peugeot 2008 semi auto 2015 model. I’ve got all the LUK parts, my local saying 3 weeks to book it in?
@@WMCS - thanks Kev I sent you an sms last night on the number in the video description. I’m based up in the northwest but can travel south to have the work carried out. Let me know the Labour cost. Thanks
There are a few I say no to. RAV4 4x4., insignia VXR , any Audi from A4 onwards. I’ll make a video next week and answer a few questions in more details
so what's the problem with these DM flywheels, is it bad driving or bad technology .. obviously someone is making a lot of money out them, I remember when a good clutch kit was 30 quid, and you could buy a burger with the change .. now I wouldn't eat the burger of course .. I'm waiting to see how that heater copes with the snow .. what snow?
For how much one of them cost, on average £250., they don’t last the life of the clutch. The flywheel alway goes before the clutch reaches about 50% on European cars I’m noticing. But all the Far East cars I work on. Especially Honda engines. The DMF can take two clutches with well over 150k miles before it fails.
@@WMCS Cheers. The wife's clutch has started slipping, but I won't be doing it on the drive, those days are long gone. Got the use of a 2 post lift....😀😀
Hi Clive. It’s a diesel heater with a 12v battery. It blows out air up to 60degrees Celsius. Very good bit of kit. 5 litres of diesel last up to 25hrs.
Hello Kevin, Bi-mass flywheel is relatively expensive and may sometimes be replaced by "standard" flywheel. Is it someting you propose to your Customers ? As usual, your videos are very interresting. Congratulations.
Es británico. Acá en chile se gana bastante cambiando el clutch (al menos yo así lo considero). Es un trabajo relativamente simple, pero no es de tan poca duración como este tipo, que creo lo hace en unas dos horas o menos. Yo me tiro unas 6 horas jaja.
I own this model of junk. The gearbox, at least on mine, was never in the reign of a kings pudding assembled correctly at the factory - the synchromesh is dreadful. The lumpy and sticky gear change from new is really irritating. And last week, I'm sure I felt the first signs of clutch slip. It's barely done 50,000 miles of careful, non-loaded driving.
