2015 Silverado 2500hd - Rusty doors and Quarter Panels 

The truck does have wheel liners that came with the truck I just chose to cut those parts out of the video of me taking them off and putting them on to shorten it's length. I've been using fluid film for the past 4 years although this year I decided to try Surface Shield by PB blaster. I know one thing, it's definitely much easier to apply. When I used fluid film I would let the bottles sit in a bucket of hot water, this time I didn't have to do that. In fact I had to turn the gun down because it was using to much material. Either way I'll see in the spring how well it holds up compared to fluid film. As far as the UV protection goes, if you see in the video (my camera shut off when I was talking about it more in depth and didn't know) I show a picture of the can when I was applying it. POR 15 makes a Top coat paint that has UV protection in it. I uesd it on my stump bucket and it's (other than being scratched a bit) is just as shiny as the day I put it on. I agree with you 100% it's awful that they can't make a Vehicle that didn't rust out so fast. At the amount of miles I put on my Truck and if it didn't rust it could pretty much last me the rest of my life. Its not like it's a cheap purchase either,, I guess it's just something that we learn to live with.

It's like tractor paint, it's very durable. I would never put paint directly over rust as I've shown in the video. I dug a 60 foot ditch, pulled stumps, shubs and many other things. Yet the paint on my stump bucket which is POR 15 is holding up extremely well. I understand that a real body man would do things differently, although they have their shops setup for it. I'm just trying to kepp my truck looking good for a few more years. Although thanks for your input, it's all good. Prep work is key, paint iis just the finally piece.

@@marksplace It's not tractor paint. See you don't even understand what it is. It is a Moisture Cured Urethane. I have no problem with that chemistry. It has it's advantages and places of usage. I have a problem with POR, how they say to use it and the results from such. Have you seen it peel off in sheets? I have. There are better materials, do some re search. restorations cost a lot of money.

If paint is peeling off in sheets it just tells me that someone didn't read the back of the can and follow the instructions, that's why they are there. So next time you see that happening don't blame the paint, blame the person who applied it.

@@marksplace So here is where you are wrong. I have seen this when used as suggested. You read about the product, it can't adhere to new metal. Isn't that an issue with adhesion ? How about a product that does adhere to any substrate? And has properties POR doesn't on top? I have a degree in Industrial Engineering, plus have been in the restoration Field for over 40 years. I've been around a lot of products and situations where they have been used. Rather than argue with me, do your due diligence and learn more.

Here you go bud,, read this. Nowhere does it state to paint over anything other than their metal prep, which leaves a zinc phosphate coating on the surface. You're applying a self etching primer on the surface, you clean, prime, paint, top coat paint which has a UV protection in it.
