Damn the girls was lacking so hard that commentators was hyping shit about them that had nothing to do with skateboarding, like did you know she also has a job or she goes to school lol..but it’s funny how all the guys just skate and that’s about it..whether the women need to have something to fall back or not I don’t know..but they seem to have more going on for them in their lives other than skating which you can’t say about the men.

Girls are just as good at skating as men. It’s obvious.

Imagine if any of the sls skaters that always place at the low end went trans and started skating women’s sls..they would fucking obliterate them..one day it’s gonna happen lol

Letícia Bufoni won the 2015 SLS Nike SB Super Crown World Championship ONLY BECAUSE she played safe. Her skateboarding was not Spectacular. It was basic. ok that 360 flip was clean. On the other hand Lacey Baker was the antithesis of Letícia Bufoni. If Lacey Baker played safe just like Letecia Bufoni did I wonder if Letícia would be champion? Skateboarding needs spectacularity.

The level of women's pro skateboarding is directly connected to sexism. Parents wouldn't give a skate to their child if she was a girl. And still don't nowadays. The culture is still build around men, the ad campaigns, the championships, the magazines, all the imagery. Cash prizes being 20 times smaller than men's category. Skateboard world didn't expect from women to turn pro, so the investments are almost non-existent. Example: Lacey Baker is one of the best, always competing for 1st places, very technical. And she doesn't have a cash sponsor. Just clothes and hardware. She gets her money from being a full time graphic designer. (Not to mention sexism over the bodies of the skaters. You watch Leticia Bufoni skating and make a stupid sex-pun about "riding" or whatever. Total disrespect). How the hell you'd expect a scenario like this to help create women who can treflip f/s smith reverse down the stairs? You have to recognize male privilege.

don't get me wrong I can't do anything these women are doing but watching this kinda makes you realise just how good the guys are

what the hell its going on with the comments? "the girls looks like a dude" "lacey looks like a men" so? u cant enjoy the tournament becoz they look like a men? skateboarding its not a sport only for mens womans can practice too and what is the problem if she looks like a men or not.

Quite the talented pool of women. Most appear to have "real" jobs on top of sk8ting and as such split time between riding and working/studying. Hats off to all, perhaps it is a sign of a healthy women's skating future.

I'm wondering how long it takes todays 17 year olds to learn "Hardflips" VS mid 90's when it took us the whooole summer..and even then it was off a ban or curb.. *Even after a full commit it was scary to slide out or primo.. so for most back then it was 3-4 months.

I love Leticia but I really wish the women level of skateboarding and the ratings in the Street League system were equal. No hate or anything, seriously, but I'm always kinda disappointed at these. She's way better than many dudes but it kinda feels like she's competing in a game where she's way better than the others, but not good enough to get with the guys. That's still nice though, it means the girls level is raising and she's the proof!

This contest was super disappointing to watch. Baker, Bufoni, Smith, Torres, I've seen them all do SO much better than what they did here, like wtf was the issue? So many bails and falls! Did they not get any time to practice the course or warm up or what? I expected so much more from them :/
