I actually kind of dig these little things. City cars, of course, but it would slide into our driveway without taking up a second spot and provide a neat second option. Might prefer a used i3 for that eventually, though... either way, appreciate this review, thanks!

I have also the Smart Electric drive 451. Full options except the tire pressure monitoring. I love it. The most I have driven on one charge round 140 kilometers. Normal charge at 220 round 6 hours when it's down to 20%. And ad a fastned 22 kw it's full in les then one hour. And the driving? It's great and fast

Not in the US (any place outside of Europe) where a type 1 AC plug has a max charging rate of .7.4 kW (but its only has a 3.3kW rate in this EV)..... vs an AC type 2 plug that has a max rate of 22 kW at home and 43 kW at commercial chargers....And good luck with your English...

@UCSVtny2rtrnzy6JkMz4Fnng if a Smart have a fast character then you can charts ad 22 kw. Not all of the Smart 451 came with the fast charger. My Smart has the fast charger. Around 45 minutes it's full. And normally loading ad home. It wil take between 6 to 8 hours. It's better for the battery not to use often fast charger. And what the normal max kw loading is. I don't no

Hi i have a real important problem with my 2015 Smart electric drive 451 im in los angeles and due to the lockdown I cant drive anywhere and the 12volt car battery is losing its charge! and I cant charge the HV battery because its at 100% and i cant drive anywhere to lower the hv battery any ideas on how i can charge up the 12 v battery and keep it charged?? HELP thanks

I did a quick check and it seems your Smart EV uses a 12v lead acid battery - like starter batteries in ICE cars. Call the guys at Deltran in DeLand, Florida. They make the Battery Tender line of chargers. I've used them on every vehicle I've owned for over 25 years. The units are computer controlled. Just hook them to your battery and that's it. They'll keep your 12v battery at 100%. Lead acid batteries last longest when kept at 100% state of charge. That's something no ICE alternator or EV circuit can do. All my vehicles are on Battery Tenders when not driven. When I park them at home, I plug in. The original battery on my 2004 Mustang lasted through 2015. Battery Tender is a brand name. Don't confuse it with trickle chargers or cheaper products.

Great review!! I'm just about to buy a second-hand one, the 2015 version. I will use it to make 40 miles everyday in a highway. I don't have problems in charging it every night. But I still got some doubts: Will I have problems with battery range? I've been offered this 2015 version with 45000 miles for about 8000 dollars. I live in Spain and this is the best offer i have found. Do you think it's a good buy? Thanks a lot in advance for your work!!!

It has about a 75 mile range and should work well for you. Much cheaper to drive than a petrol powered car!

Works good in snow. It’s no SUV obviously, but it’s handles my Maryland winters just find with a few inches on t roads.

@@blankuser1321 In the snow? The leaf would have tires that are a bit bigger, plus be heavier, so I think it would reason that the leaf has a better chance verse the Smart. But over all better is a matter of taking in the entire package. I choose the Smart ED over the Leaf. I have a 2015 Smart ED and love it.

Would NEVER buy an electric car. Gas is better, goes longer, and can get gas everywhere. Electric can't go as long nor can you charge it when needed. Electric 👎 I'm sorry the gas ones aren't being made for US market.

Cheryl Davis .Stupid and short sighted.Electric is the future and those gas cars will soon be obsolete.Do you care about the planet ?The range of electric cars is growing all the time and the charge times are coming down.This is a city car and the range is quite adequate for this.The Tesla cars are amazing and have an excellent range.

I love my Electric Smart. I have no desire to drive more then it’s range let’s me. I also makes a nice excuse when I need too! Ha. No maintenance. No worries. Not so much for to your smart now that Smart left the USA!

Our entire family has switched to electric vehicles. Solar panels at the home have us all leaving the house with full batteries for pennies on the dollar compared to gas, plus the convenience and savings of virtually no maintenance. None of us are ever going back to gas.
