It’s a favorite of mine too. I love Kurt Browning’s commentary for this. It’s very balletic. And he did this at 15. Kurt called it skating with the soul of an old person.
I did not pay attention to figure skating news till Olympic Beijing opening. My sis recommended Nathan to me, she was impressed by his performance in the TV news. After watched him winning OJP champion, I am obsessed with him massively. Missed to watch his live performance in championship for many years I watched his championship footage in RU-vid every day😍
Same here, I stopped watching figure skating completely due to mediocre skating skills in American field of ice skating. Nathan’s skillful performances have renewed my interest early last year, and I feel so blessed that I was able to observe and witness his triumph in winning Olympic gold before his retirement, and collect his performances over his entire journey in pursuit of “GOLD”.
This program is very artistic and elegant and Nathan did it in his debut senior performance! He has become more of a technical skater now for sure but saying he has little or no artistry is really ridiculous.
Nathan really deserved d victory & Gold ... All his previous performances ... WOW ... very SOLID... both he & Yuzu r equally SUPERB but Yuzu's ... Too fancy ... Very sissy 🥵... sorry no offense!
at 15 nathan chen, a young man can't even do 1 quad jump, while at 15 kamila valieva, a young woman can do 3 quad jumps. drugs can do wonder to her body, lol.
in all fairness, while she definitely did drugs lol, in 2015 the best male skater in the world was only landing 3... the quad loop, flip and lutz are all recent additions. Its amazing what people can learn how to do when they start learning quads at younger ages because they know they can't break into seniors without at least 2. But yeah Russian coach is a crazy person... got everyone learning quads at like 12
