+Galimah Yes...the guy in red t-shirt is almost good player as I am... (hahahaha! I think Ma Long is the best player ever seen in table tennis! and by now #1 in the world)
@Mario H If it was at all possible to compensate a lack of talent with playing as a defender we would see more than the maybe 2 defenders we have in the top 100 players stop being salty because you lost to a defender once because you suck lol
@Aspen You need to do a little research about the modern defensive style. The sky's the limit with it. The only reason they don't win the WTTC is because its easier to be an attacking player. Its much harder to win as a chopper. But make no mistake, if a chopper with a monster forehand can make it to the finals of a WTTC without being too tired, they can win.
Maybe an old school defender's tradition to wear a watch? Since they had to keep track of time because of the expedite rules. But he is a modern attacking defender, so expedite wouldn't be a concern for him.
why doesn't panagiotis chop when the ball goes to his forehand? This passive forehand drive with slight top spin or whatever this is ain't effective at all
He would have to switch racket sides all the time (something hard to do when you are right in the center, cause you'd have to decide). It's just to keep the ball in play.
David Richter I have just noticed that Joo Se Hyuk chops by both sides, with pimples on backhand and standard smooth rubber on forehand. I thought Panagiotis could do the same
Алишер Макашев That's Panagiotis's style. He does chop when using back side but usually attacks when using forehand side. I remember a person whose style is like him is called 'a Modern Defender' (I'm not sure.)
