Part of me says, "Yeah, I really dig this thing..." and the other part says, "Turn in your man card if you get one..." Hahaha... I used to own a 1964 Beetle. It really brings back the days... It looks better than ever, I think. Nice video, too.
That might be true for the "new Beetle" that preceeded this gen, but I think the restyling made it a Beetle for anyone. I mean there is no longer a holder for the optional interior flower vase haha😂
Saabkyle04 thank you i think it should be a standard feature due to it being out for over a decade now it taking certain auto companies so long to catch up to its competition
Hey Kyle, so videos and pictures aren't as reliable for the eyes, but since you've seen it in person, would you say it's more like a gold, mustard, or sun-like color?
Volkswagen Beetles are awesome. That Dune trim level is especially fantastic. I love how it has the gold exterior with the gold dashboard. The interior does match the exterior.
The 2018 Dune is so much better. It gets the 2.0T instead of the 1.8T so it pulls much more and it also gets nicer headlights and new looking climate controls. It also has more features. When I went to go buy mine, they had a 2017 1.8T Dune convertible in stock but I wanted to pay the extra money to get a brand new 2018 2.0T. It’s a much better engine for this vehicle. And for 2018, everything comes standard on the Dune. No packages.
Antonio Zamudio I’ve had it for 2 years now and I just hit 18k miles. The only interior noises is a door rattle when playing music which I’ll be getting fixed free of cost. And the only major problem I’ve had was window issues where the switches arent always responsive and won’t go up. It doesn’t always happen. We also got the Infotainment system replaced under warranty since it was defective. I think it’s a great car and the transmission is also great because it’s not the DSG.
2dfx my 2012 beetle turbo had the 2.0T with 200 HP instead of the little 1.8T with only 170 HP. I also had the 6 speed manual. I wanted to trade mine in for the Dune convertible and in 2018, that’s when they brought back the 2.0T but still no manual and not enough horsepower but when I test drove it, I really liked the automatic and the power is surprisingly enough. As long as I had the fender premium audio system standard, I buy and I did buy it and I don’t regret it.
So VW recycles their old and inefficient TSI engines in the US market and people still buy that? This engine is heavily outdated and you can't buy this engine for years in europe. Just compare the Europe Top Model of the Dune with the 2.0L 220HP BlueMotion @ 36 MPG Average (manual / 35MPG w DSG) to this old 170HP TSI with 24 MPG City and 31MPG Hwy. The Europe Base Models are even way more efficient (45MPG). Is Fuel Economy in 2017 still not a thing in the US?
MY EYES! THEY MADE IT EVEN UGLIER!!! VOLKSWAGEN, FIRST YOU KILLED MY TDI AND NOW YOU BURN MY EYES!!! As you can see, I loved my A7 TDI before Dieselgate happened.
Regular fuel on a turbo? I guess thats why many of them start to break. I believe that even though, it has a CR of less than 10, you still have compressed air from the turbo, which adds pressure, even though its cooled by the intercooler. Id go on the safe side and put premium on it.
There is zero reason to waste money on premium fuel for a car designed to run on regular octane. Literally the only thing you're getting with high octane fuel is less chance of engine knock on high compression engines. Engineering prowess and a good ECU computer take care of that just fine. Of course it wont hurt anything to run premium on this engine, but you wont get any extra performance...just a lighter wallet.
@@hakeemsd70m Only if the manufacturer specifies "premium fuel only" on the fuel door or gas cap. Cars that say "premium fuel reccomended" means you can safely run regular but may have reduced performance.
You and your people are doing a first class job, keep it up. It would be interesting to compare and contrast the Beetle and the Mini. The prices quoted are in USD I assume and that makes the Dune an expensive Beetle in Canada when fully equipped.
in the uk the Beetle Dune is available with a 6speed manual and 7 speed dsg, no torque converter auto available , it also have two engine options rather then 1, the 1.2L and a 2.0L
I had a 2012 Beetle 2.0T and when I went to trade it in for a dune convertible, it only had the 1.8T which I didn’t like. I waited another year and I got my 2.0T
awesome content kyle, I've been a sub for quite a few years on different accounts because I forget passwords and change phones, thanks for the years of entertainment!!
