Relive all the action from the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, the seventh race of the 2016 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
Thanks to IMSA Offical I've been able to watch more hours of sports car racing over the last two months than I'd watched over the last ten years. This is really some great racing and I can pick and choose to watch whenever I want. Awesome.
Went to Mosport yesterday for the race. The track is now owned by Canadian Tire who have done an amazing job and it looks great. IMSA are probably the best organized race series around. As always thanks for posting, because we missed some of the action (Mazda 55 going off) and can watch the whole race again.
Mike Davies Amen to that. I tell you something, about 20 years ago the track was for sale. I was told that the price was $1.4 million. Crazy. Before Don bought it.
CDN Tire does not own this track. Ron Fellows and Carlo Fidani own the track, and Canadian Tire is a title sponsor in the form of a partnership with Fellows and Fidani. Since Fellows and Fidani took over the track, they put 40 million into the track and the associated facility. I was there this past weekend as well and the facility is beautiful compared to what it was 5+ years ago. The improvements they've made are phenomenal!!
Sorry boys, but you got nothing on John Hindhaugh and the rest of the RLM team. Their commentary is top notch and the best in the business, as far as sportscars are concerned.
Why use fox sports their breaks mean that large parts of the race are lost i miss the days where you could watch it on the imsa website with radio lemans for comentary
I watch them both and RU-vid wins hands down. I can pause, rw, fw TV but here I can jump back/forth to specific times very easily, watch it on the go from any device, mine or not.
I live in Portland. when champ car used to come here I would go every year. I would also record the live race. I would then go home and rewatch the race. pause and rewind for sure. I never watch a live race, cant rewind it
Not being able to watcch this live is REALLY a bummer. I had to watch in car, and it's just note the same. But I did have IMSA radio on as well. Should go back to having them live on IMSA.com.... Glad to see GTLM closer now. Porsche has some things to figure out. Can't wait to go to Road America next month!
The Interface in the youtube could be better co when I saw this replay race at Fox Sports Asia, the Interface is replaced by NASCAR style unification system that covers the sponsors with the Competition logo instead of FOX Sports style interface. Please fix this and the no Ads feature so we can watch more actions!
Am I to understand that the rules are being tailored to each specific car, rather than to each class as a whole? I don't get it. What am I missing, here?
Feel bad for Sean Raynall (@1:59) but am I the only one who could care less about having a Delta Wing in the field? The only time it ever got any coverage was when it was covered in tires.
I didn't even know you could download via the RU-vid app, because I never used it. To download this race I used JDownloader, where you put the video link into. It's available for Linux, Windows and maybe Mac OS.
458s have been replaced by turbo 488s... and sound meh In person the Ford GT sounds amazing, like the formula one blown diffusers when they downshift. Every car sounds unique because that's the kind of diversity sportscar racing brings in its field Stop talking out of your ass...
991.2 2/4-s isn't to be considered (apart from the turbo model) a 'turbo'. Just before you kick off again.. The new Carrera hasn't fully started racing yet either.
Lovely sentence structuring. I had to read that three times to get only a vague idea of what you're trying to get at but even then I'm still fairly lost...
To me this was a lame race of dinosaur prototypes at the front. I can't believe Mercedes wants to join that joke of a prototype class, but ok, they are in the embarrassing BOPed DTM circus also.
I can't find the spot in the video anymore, but they said that Mercedes wanted to join somewhere in the broadcast. I found this link from around the time this race took place: www.roadandtrack.com/motorsports/news/a29899/mercedes-amg-gt3-imsa/ However since then Mercedes-AMG has denied that they are entering DPi in any shape or form next year.
DPi has become one of the strongest categories in the world: Acura, Bentley, Cadillac, Hyundai, Mazda, Nissan, Panoz and have all developed a DPi to a certain extent.
what a sham. performance correction? sounds more like "ford has been winning too much so let's handicap them to let the corvettes have a chance." and even more pathetic is that they still pulled a win.
Everyone gets the BOP hammer unfortunately. Wish everyone could just run to the class limits and see what happens. But this does create really interesting racing with everyone being balanced so close to one another.
T.P.K. yeah, I'm torn since it really does make it closer but on the other hand we saw that the 66 ford took 6th in class there and can't help but think they would've done better if they hadn't have been cut (though more power to briscoe and westy for STILL pulling off a lead). Cuz on the other hand you also gotta think that if this is a race from the manufacturers, like ford is racing the GT, GM is racing the corvettes, and I'm sure BMW and ferrari want to see how their cars do, it would be great to see the cars pushed to their limits within the class boundaries and really see who has the best combination of car and driver.
Imsa made a mistake about the Ford GT allowing them to race in the gtlm class those cars are purposely built race cars and should’ve been ruled out under the Saleen S7 rules. At the time the gtlm class cars are everyday cars you can buy. The Ford Gt was a specially built limited production car with the cost of a half $1 million. And shouldn’t been allowed to race.
