I have never run into this problem. Assuming you still have the plastic housing have you tried holding the lower portion of the housing and using a breaker bar to break it free?

Yeah not sure if it’s every 5k or 7.5k miles on the oil change alert. I’m old school and still do it every 3k even though oil is more advance nowadays but it’s what I’ve always done on all my vehicles and is probably why some of them have close to 300k miles on them and still running strong.

If it’s overfilled yes you can let some out from the drain plug and pan just be careful because it will drain fast and make sure the oil isn’t hot so you don’t burn yourself. Or another way is the trick with the shop vac you take a shop vac and put it over the oil fill hole this will create a vacuum but will not suck the oil out you can then go below pull the plug and nothing will come out till you shut the vacuum off then once you get the amount out you want turn the vacuum back on and stick your drain plug in. But if it’s leaking this will not fix the leak most likely what happened is someone tightened the oil filter cap to tight because these oil filter housings are just plastic and break and start to leak very common issue on these cars.

I personally wouldn’t recommend it although I have seen it work in some cases but it’s not a permanent fix just a bandaid. Do you have the 3.6 engine and can you tell where it’s coming from? I just developed an oil and coolant leak on mine well actually this is my daughter’s car. It’s coming from the oil cooler/oil filter housing it’s a very common issue on these 3.6 engines. So I went ahead and ordered a new housing with cooler and will be upgrading the old plastic housing with an aluminum one to cure this problem once and for all. So I will probably be doing a video on that. I’m assuming that’s probably where yours is leaking from as well. If you take a flashlight and shine it down where the oil filter is and it’s all wet with oil in that valley that’s your issue and it tends to drip down by the driver side cv axle under the car.

Pretty much comes down to preference but you can never go wrong with OEM Mopar.
