I absolutely love my Abarth. As far as price goes, I got mine, a 2015 6-speed, just as the next model year was arriving, for $19k. There are deals to be had for the savvy shopper.
Much love to your review & you. Very good. I've been looking at this car for some time. My better half doesn't like manuals & I'm happy they have an automatic option. I enjoyed my self with the drive. I really prefer you to be out driving the car rather than talking about them in front of a screen. Thank you for a really good & genuine review.
The Abarth 500 is one of the few cars I've driven where the sport button actually has a point. In non sport mode the turbo makes half the boost making the engine a lot more docile when you just want it to settle down, and the steering is significantly lighter for city driving. If you leave it in sport mode it will be in sport mode when you restart the car, so you never need use the button if you don't want the city/docile mode. Personally I find I use non sport quite a lot day to day.
Yes. Sport shifts more like a manual and you can hear downshifts better too. I turn sport off when im traveling as it gets better gas mileage and doesnt drone as much on the interstate.
I did Not go for the manual, because this auto is just that well sorted. it also gives a taller final drive with the 6 speed which is noticeable on the highway. 70mph is about 2,200rpm in 6th. the transmissions brain in tied into the vehicle computer and g-meter to determine when to shift and when to stay. it's quite smart and will do what you would do in a manual.
I think when saw you giddy driving the car says a lot man. You like the car. I do prefer a basic car in regards to technology, dont want all that nav stuff that complicates things and make it a potential nightmare to fix. Nice review, and am liking that you put the safety/crash test specs too.
Never buy them new. Let the new owner absorb the depreciation. Buy them at 3-4 years old and you can get a good low mileage deal. Funnest car I have ever driven.
Interesting review Sam....Im surprised by the gas mileage..in your review with the Fiesta ST from last year (?) I believe you broke over 30mpg...I test drove this one myself before settling on the Fiesta...Ford was cheaper faster and a bit more room...the Abarth is a very fun car to drive though...honestly it was the digital instrumentation that turned me off...both are great cars..was curious to see what you think of the ST as a competitor? Keep up the great work as always.
The European Facelift version Abarth is cooler!!! In US version are lot of old features!! Steering-wheels...back light...front of the car etc. are all different in European version!!! In our is also a Navigation... My Abarth is a Competizione MTA upgraded to 210 HP.
I could buy a hell of alot more car for 33 grand then a FIX IT AGAIN TONY ABARF so i will leave it to the milenials that no nothing to buy one of these. As far as the sound goes if it don't have a V 8 i don't want to hear it, 4-6 cylinders all sound like crap and yes Sam it is noise. Having said that every vehicle we have except for my wifes VW CC has dual exhaust with either Cherry bomb extremes or no mufflers at all............. I would put this car on my never buy it list, ugly ass car !!!
