Great video! I thought you were riding on the 'Rock' when I watch this for the first time. I wanted to get a Grizzly 700 back in 2012 and I still want one, now that they are even better. Unfortunately, didn't have enough money and ended up getting a Sportsman 500HO LE on rebate. I haven't had any issues with it at all and the 500 has enough jam for me but the drive train quality is just not as good as the Japanese built ATVs. The sportsman has all kinds of design issues that need constant inspection and maintenance. Does your power steering still assist in 4x4 diff lock? I hear it cuts out once you lock all fours.
We will be coming to the rock this summer. Yes the power steering still works while in diff lock. But to be honest I have only used diff lock a hand full of times.
it should last forever! we have a 1999 yamaha grizzly 600 stock (believe it or not it does still do 71 lol) and havnt had an issue to date over 13,000 miles yes, 13,000 miles it still runs great and strong! you cant kill them! just stay on top of oil changes!
yes i do have both, theres really not that much difference to be honest the grizzly is a bigger bike so if tight trails are your thing the kodiak is best for you. grizzly seems to be more comfortable on longer rides as its a bigger bike
I'm comparing a 2016 Grizzly and a Kodiak I bought a Grizzly and my cousin bought a Kodiak same day the biggest difference I noticed was I had differential lock on my basic model he didn't. He bought EPS. I already had that offered and a $3,000 price tag difference. Both ATVs have the same top speed but the grizzly comes off the starting line slightly faster. Kodiak runs slightly quieter as for lower stance which is more idea for a farmer Rancher or a hunter. Where is a Grizzly is a little bit more louder higher and more design for play but also can handle the chores around the farm. Oh and a Grizzly came with adjustable shocks the Kodiak did not but that's an easy upgrade if you got the money and you could easily slip out the clutch weights from a Grizzly to a Kodiak and get Grizzly performance in a Kodiak but you're not going to get differential lock unless you buy a special edition or limited edition. As for the limited edition and a special edition Grizzly and Kodiak the only difference is height stance and clutch weights that's it
fernace333 I don't think Yamaha offers a aftermarket Locker for their Kodiak. All their ATVs that have a locker are electronic push-button where is the Kodiak (base) has manual flip, (cable). Kodiak is way more reliable guaranteed. I've already had my four wheel drive service. My grizzly has under 150 miles. 22 months of ownership. My cousin's already sold his Kodiak bought a new house but he beat the snot out of his never had a problem.
