Good video BUT you totally skipped over the 10 amp fuse that goes inline on the red power wire. It took me FOREVER to figure out why my trailer's lights weren't working.
just a heads up for anybody watching this video and still can't figure it out, there is a little red box attached to the converter box itself that opens and has a spot for a 10-amp fuse that comes with the kit that must be put in or the lights will not work. took me forever to figure that out, and they absolutely didn't mention it in the video. That's why, sorry not sorry but I'm giving this video a huge thumbs down. but I hope this information helps others 👍🙏
Great video, thank you. I read the instructions and then watched this video. Stuff like the cargo latches just unscrew I would never have figured out compared to installing the tow hitch which required a flat head screwdriver to pop out a panel underneath the van. Also, my kit came with double sided tape to adhere the black box to the inside which this video didn't include. I had it so I used it so that it wouldn't make noise if it moved. I suggest using both but this video is more helpful. My kit also came with an extra 10 amp regular size fuse, any idea what that is for? neither the instructions or this video address it.
At the 9:34 mark he talks about the 3 fuses (2) 7.5a and (1) 10 a fuse. If your kit had (2) 10 amp fuses, it is most likely by accident or just an extra.
It's for an inline fuse on the red power wire. They totally skipped it in the video and it took me FOREVER to figure out why my trailer's lights weren't working.
Hello, thanks for the video! Is it necessary (legally) to tuck the wires behind the covers and panels? I'm only looking to connect a trailer once to tow my golf cart for inspection so would prefer to just plug it in only when needed.
If all of your connections are fully seated then it could be a bad or unseated fuse. Also make sure you have properly grounded the unit. (There should be no movement in your ground screw). If neither of those are the reason, you could have a bad wire converter. Bring it into your local U-haul and we would be happy to diagnose.
