This is a slide-show of famous (or famous to a certain degree) people in the world of music, film, television, radio, sport, politics, medicine and literature etc who died between 1st January 2016 and 31st December 2016. It is by no means an absolute definitive list of all of them as that would be in an insane amount of work.
I've already spent far too long working on this project as it is and it would be much, much longer too; so I had to give myself some ground rules.
Each inclusion had to fall into any one of the below criteria:
1. Do I know who this person is?
2. Have I heard of the band, film, TV series etc they were in?
3. Do I know of the event or events this person was involved with?
4. Am I aware of this persons work or lasting legacy?
With that in mind, those people who didn't qualify are listed below and I apologise if they didn't make the grade.

A "Music credits are at the end of the video."
Q "What about the hundreds killed by terrorists/war in Aleppo/plane crashes etc in 2016?"
A "This is a list of people who are famous in music, film, television, radio, sport, politics, medicine and literature. There is a place and time to honour the lives lost in conflict or by the actions of certain groups of people, this isn't it.
Q "Where is Fidel Castro?"
A "He was a dictator with a less than stellar human rights back-history who, during the Cuban missile crisis, almost brought the world to war for the third time, why on Earth would I include him?"

A "You're an idiot."
