Take a behind the scenes look at the life of a Standardbred racehorse blacksmith with veteran Tony Avenatti as he illustrates his craft on a young Tony Alagna trainee at Sunshine Meadows in Delray Beach, FL.
Was watching the video and heard you mention you went to school in Macomb, Illinois. I also went to Midwestern Horse shoeing School. Roy Evans was the owner/instructor when I went. I'm 72 and still shoeing. Still enjoy the good ones, just don't do the bad ones now. Good luck to you!
As a shoer who served apprenticeship with last retired US Cavalry shoeing instructor, NICE Shoeing, BUT-fasten that propane tank down!!! I'm retired now,but remember MANY stories in Anvil Magazine about shoers who died when their tanks exploded in a car wreck!!! Better yet-have an RV place mount a nice under the bed tank...Again-nice shoeing.
Farriers have a hard job, doing all that lifting, hammering,... I hope he can live well and painfree in retirement one day and not work himself to death.
