Anthony Ray Hinton spent nearly 30 years on death row before he was exonerated in 2015. Now, Hinton has written a book about his experience called "The Sun Does Shine: How I Found Life and Freedom on Death Row." 60 Minutes told his story in 2016.

I read that because he wasn't proven innocent they don't want to give him the money. When I say to you the whole thing just makes my jaw drop it's an understatement. They need to pay him an amount that we probably can't even imagine how do you ever pay somebody for 30 years of their life. Incredible

I read "The Sun Does Shine" as a required book for summer reading and DID NOT expect to be sobbing alone in my room as many times as I did while reading that book. I swear this mans courage is otherwordly and i'm overwhelmingly inspired by it😭

God bless Mr. Hinton. The only thing worse that a guilty man going free is an innocent man being convicted. I do disagree that he should be given millions of dollars. That doesn't fix it. I think he should be awarded enough for a comfortable life for the rest of his life though. And I think anyone involved in false information that helped convict him should spend time in prison.

Shame on the State of Alabama ! Shame on you ! We all know, as awful as it is, injustices occur but when they do we HAVE to do all that can be done to make it right. Mr Hinton is entitled to a MINIMUM of: fair compensation for every year and a full pension. I would say, one to two million in compensation plus a pension for retirement. *SHAME ON YOU ALABAMA*

juan hoshkaboo he's not a politician. Just an advocate. One way it could change is the government compensating exonerated in prisoners in states like Alabama, even if it's a little. The fact that you have not lost your sense of humour, that you have not become angry and bitter but instead love to see people laugh and be happy after what has been done to you - it is awsome and is very humbling!! I hope I can learn just a tiny little bit of your composure when I get miffed or even angry about things that are petty, small or silly in comparison to what has been done to you. God bless Mr. Hinton. "I love to laugh and smile, I couldn't do that with hate in my heart". I don't think I'd be that big of a man. THE ONLY THING WORSE THAN A GUILTY PERSON GOING FREE is AN INNOCENT PERSON BEING CONVICTED and receiving punishment for something they didn't do. This case should be revisited and anyone shown to be knowingly and falsely accusing him should do time in prison.
