Sorry but not true. If you did it EXACTLY like the videos and put too much on maybe. too much makeup only looks good on pics/video but if you adjusted it to daylight you were fine. Just gotta know how ..@krisalys6118
@@Alexandra-ol1cs that is actually so true lol People would assume I was a bitch because me and my friends all did that and were surprised I was a easy going, friendly, reasonable human being with a smokey eye lol
Same asf I still do cause my mom always told me you don’t need cute clothes all the time so cute makeup wearing sweats and shirt you can do the same so I do cause it MAKES ME FEEL GOOD
the best thing about trends is that you can figure out what works best for you. i’ve always hated 2016 makeup and then clean girl makeup came around and i hated that too. the thing that helped me was douyin makeup and korean makeup. it suits me better and that’s how everything should be. doing trends just kinda hurts your pockets and if ultra matte or ultra dewy suits you more, go for it. no matter how outdated it is
Honestly same! 2016 makeup never looked good on me and when the clean girl era came I slightly remade it for my own needs and I finally felt like home, trends helps explore and they made me realise that I'm better with soft and natural look and not full glam, because I always felt the pressure of it. I'm staying with it, no matter what trend comes next haha.
@@xollyxolly3234 idk why you said that given my entire comment was talking about how you should find makeup that works for you. if you think you look ugly with douyin makeup, that’s an opportunity to find something that suits your face. it suits mine and i don’t need circle lenses
It never left tbh. If you’re one of those 2016 girlies that did this, you can still find yourself doing these looks when going out lol. Love doing a full makeup glam!!!
No fr, I was only 16 back then and I couldn't be fucked to wake up early just to do makeup when I barely made it on time anyways without makeup, but you better believe now days if I'm going out I do this look LOL
I was doing my makeup like this senior year of high school… in 2011. 😂 may have been ahead of my time, BUT it has scared me and left me with an urge/need to do this type of eye look even if I’m just picking my kids up from school. 😅
I felt the line “I forgot I used to my makeup for 5 hours” in my SOUL OMG😂😂 but honestly I can’t lie it was the peak the contour and highlight I’m not over still
@@SamanthaP48 it’s more about the eyeliner shape and the eyeshadow looks. I actually don’t use foundation or heavy contour and you trying to be a brat on the internet doesn’t hurt my feelings. Get over yourself 💕
Nooooo not the cakey 2016 makeup! Literally it only looked good in videos or pictures, but anyone I knew in real life doing this looked a mess with all that matte foundation 😂
I agree, and I think the big factor is lighting. this kind of look is perfect for evenings because of the dimmer light. Like going to a restaurant for dinner, the lighting will be dim and warm, which makes the makeup look great. Or if you’re going to a theatre or a club, it will be darker, which suits the darker eyeshadow, lashes, and eyeliner, and brings out the glitter. The issue with this look during the day is how bright and cold direct daylight looks, so it will definitely emphasize every little thing on your face. It makes the dark bold colors much more harsh. If you feel comfortable in this makeup then it doesn’t matter, it’s just makeup, but lighting will always change how makeup looks, whether we like it or not.
Absolutely incredible! I still gawk at my pinterest board full of 2016 instagram makeup. It's gorgeous!!! Bring back looking glam for no reason other than it just kills!!!!
@@lilylou2615Girl take the time to fix your sleep schedule while your routine is still simple before you go to college or start working as an adult because things are only gonna get worse
2016 makeup scared me since that was when i was JUST learning how to put basic concealer and stuff on as a 13 yr old and i was overwhelmed by the makeup scene to say the least lmao
oh my god the way this comment in particular hurled me back lmao (I have always been a way more pared-down and French-inspired girlie, so I never did the big bold makeup looks, but you best believe I had that palette!!)
@@clarerichardson8770 haha I loved it so much that when I barely hit pan on ONE eyeshadow I panic bought another one as a backup just in case they discontinued it 😂 if only I knew it would still be around all these years later lol
@@Inspire-kx4fbthe trend currently is soap brows and they’re very feathered without being filled in, and while I get it’s natural looking, I do like the 2016 look especially when going out.
The key to makeup is really just figuring out what you like, trends don’t always work for everyone. Do what makes you happy and screw what everyone else says 😁
I'm glad for the recovery time. Very much enjoy the natural glow, no makeup makeup. And with this Korean skin care, I'm 38 years old and don't even wear foundation, no concealer, no primers, I don't need it. Most days I just do my brows, mascara, touch of cream blush, lip balm, that's literally it. In the evenings I might add highlighter and a little agyosal, some tinted lip balm. I've never in life felt so beautiful as I do with good skin care and minimal makeup.
I still do my make-up like it’s 2016 😂 I’ve been catching up after years of not embracing my femininity, so if I’m going out there’s always a cut crease haha
Looking back that was the look i just remember seeing those mostly especially online, looking back kylie jenner etc, but now it's so out of place, but it kinda shocked me that something so familiar now seems weird, i just turned 22 this is first time i really see the passing of former fashions and trends really consciously
2016 was definitely the high point of technical skill because the amount of Effort it took to do the various statement brows was enormous. Luckily for me, my brows are absolutely wild and if I want to relive the brow fantasy years, I just let them grow for two weeks.
This the type of makeup I do and love all the time. It's what was always done to me so I learned. One of the ladies who helped me had dark skin so she owned a lot of dark/bright colors and ig that's why I like them so much now. Also currently in love with the burgundy/blöød red vampire lip thing❤️❤️❤️
2016 gives me bittersweet vibes honestly I was IN the trenches and had so much fun but I also did not need to buy expensive makeup to achieve that look.
The fact that I used to wake up every day for high school and go with a full beat face 😭 granted I didn’t need foundation back then just bb cream and under eye concealer but the contour and blush and eyeshadow with winged liner everyday was so extra
I was 16/17yo back then but I didn't own any makeup :( now that I do I wear heavy makeup and "dramatic" looks just because I never got to do that. Maybe in the future I'll get tired of doing it and try the minimal makeup trend, and maybe not. We don't have to wait for something to be trendy to finally do it 💜
what lol everyone said it sucked when the year was over? 2016 was what 2020 was before 2020 happened i guess it depends what country you're from, but still...
God I hope it doesn’t come back only bc I love the natural look 😭😭 it looks way better on me than glam ever did pls lord don’t let it come back into trend 😭😂 I’d much prefer the 10-20 minute makeup look it’s so cute and allows for natural beauty to be shown instead of hiding it
2016 was the best because we got to be extra creative and have fun. I remember so many foundation, contour and shadow techniques and it was worth getting fun pallets. The switch up to clean girl aesthetic is insane lol!
It lives in my heart and mind rent free. I have carpal tunnel and wrinkles now, so I don't think I can achieve what I had in 2016 but in you it lives on
My aunt was doing this makeup in the 80's she started the trend. I feel that 100%, cause back then she was the only one of her peers with her face beat every day she always had a cut crease or three colors at the same time and so on. In the 80's!! ❤❤
I'm here for itttt! Soft girl and clean girl were not as easy to pull off, for me personally. Everybody is different, but I loved seeing all kinds of people rock these heavy Glam looks back then. Yes please.
Its gorgeous, I remember this trend starting in like 2013ish when I was still in highschool, during the release of the Naked palettes and Anastasia dip brow because brows were BOLD then, not just full and brushed up/laminated and fluffy looking like now 😅 we will make fun of ourselves for that and money pieces in a few years just like ppl make fun of 2016 makeup less than a decade later 😅 Now make-up is so minimal and it's the complete opposite of all our makeup from 2016ish. Now we value a moisturized dewy look, almost to the point of looking oily. Then it was matte and baking, with the shiniest part of our faces only being our highlight or glitter 😅
