Yoo as a Jamaican I have to give it to the trinis. You guys invented one of the sweetest musical instruments ever to grace this earth, literally brings tears to my eyes. I've been in love with pan since I was a child need to get back in a band asap
My pan side gone were the days when i was on the hill ...It is good to see that you guys are still carry on ...I left T & T in January of 1971 and i could still remember the last tune been played on the hill ...Keep on Keeping on guys....Well Done
He learned that from our cousins Reggie he used to play music with Desperados that was when we were little boys and he used to come and tell us about those days
Every time I feel like hearing some real sweet pan music, I have to listen to Desperados and my cousin Zanda we use to play music as boys now I am listening to him and just reminiscing about those days when our family didn't want us to play music
Desperadoes prior panorama victory was in 2000 when it amassed # 10. The band did not win in 15 years, yet no one caught them. They were finally caught in 2019, but they retook the lead in 2020.
Love this arrangement, the fact that the musiicians are so absorbed in what they're doing, their unbridled joy.Outstanding.Far better than some placed ahead of them.
As with 2017 this is Zanda's innovative style of layering. Perfected through the years with Siparia Deltones but Despers being a more accomplished, powerful and perfect tone band was able to do justice and eventually won 2016 and placed second in 2017. That layering technique of repeating and adding a little each time is most evident throughout Desper's arrangement. The staccato accentuated parts gives the punch that disguises the repeats. Cleaver way of adding time although limiting but keeping the listeners' interest. It's the new look Despers which has now moved away from Bradley's signature combined bass runs and intricate passages. Hats off to the winners and arrangers for their great interpretation and choice of party songs.
Every time I listen to Despers I fall in love with this arrangement all over again. I find something new every single time. Say what you want but Despers will go down in history as top 3 bands of all time. Supernovas was also really good in 2016... I’m ready for another Rama lol.
Despers are really killing it! Sandy did more composing than arranging....But I wonder why nobody hears that a tenor player lost his rubber tips in the middle of the tune. A pitty for the sound:-( and a shame for the player to not have brought his spares
Perfectly outstanding! Despers performed desperately, a well deserved championship. I met Zanda over thirty yrs ago can't remember exactly where we were but he was messing around on a piano,I never forgot the encounter, he started playing Sparrow's "good morning mr. walker" in a progressive jazz styling. He was magically way ahead of the times. A "Different me" was just that, a Different ting, by a different arranger. Totally Pantastic! Burt!
Honestly, I love Boogie's musical vision but the intro to this year's installment did not open the piece in a spellbinding and compelling way. This is where I see the " gates open " for the others to get pass Phase 2.
A massive thanks for posting this collection - Excellent recording. BPTT Renegades are the winners for me - sweet arrangement! Also Is that Nadia Batson flag waving during the Renegades performance? Love her gold pants....ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-To72QlgtF7M.htmlm8s
