September 2017 UPDATE: Crossbars are holding up great and we just did an 8 hour round-trip with our two fishing kayaks to the beach! Only issue we had was one of the bars feet started to slide backwards on the rail and needed to be tightened back down half way through our trip. We have bow and stern lines tied to the Forester for safety so we weren't worried but something to note. Always tighten the hex screws before a long journey or check them annually when not in use.

Thanks. Nice to know I can place cross bars at point I like, not covering the moon/sun roof is good. Like that hand tightening should do it. Will go install the bars now. Might ask my husband to give the bars a tighten if I don't think they are on tight enough.

I'm trying to figure out how to move the crossbar away from the SAT Radio shark fin antenna as it might be what is interfering with my signal. Signal goes in and out. Thanks for your detailed installation instructions. I was able to easily move it forward. Now we'll see if that fixes the problem.

Hello, I'm looking for a good cross bar for my Subaru XV / Crosstreck 2018. Subaru OEMs seem very expensive to me, so I'm watching the BRIGHTLINES, and apparently they are from your video. These Cross Bar Brightlines would be the most aesthetically similar to the Subaru OEM, at least I see that, aesthetically I can not find any difference. But are they of equal or better quality vs Subaru OEMs? What do you think you have used in your Forester. Now I was goggling and I can not find the official site of this product, do you know where they are manufactured? I imagine that if it were not a UK manufacturer, it could be Chinese, I know that Trule is from Sweden but they are more expensive than any other. The idea is to use a cross bar aesthetically good, and resietente, no matter the brand, the theme is that they work. I await your comments. Thank you.

Do you tighten the two screws underneath (used for adjusting the length of the bars) after you've installed it? I didn't see you mention tightening those screws in the video.

A couple of questions: 1. Do you see them from inside the car if you open the moon roof? 2. The Subaru-brand cross bars curve up so you have more separation between the bars and the roof. These go more straight across. Do you think there is an advantage of one design over the other? Thanks.

I have these same roof racks and we just used them for the first time with our two kayaks. They held really well and were very inexpensive! When you installed them did you follow the instructions with the 4 inch away from the notch in the rear and 6 inch in the front? Cause I see some people who have them right up on the notches of rails. Just curious if that actually makes a difference?

Do the OEM ones and the Generic ones differ much? I am shopping on Amazon for my Forester 2014 and it seems that the OEM is 1.6 lbs lighter but $50 more expensive. Is there any way that the OEM one is built with better quality or is more aerodynamic?
