Apparently so. When I read your comment I was like nah, then I looked down the feed and it's was Cletus in the fire safety hovercraft and I was like oh yeah. That's on my watchlist :-)
Think about moving around and getting some different POV's next time. It looks exciting but there's only so many times you can watch them hit the water in the same spot. Cheers
Andrea Del Signore, are these races broadcast on the BBC or is this too small of an event? It would be nice to hear race statistics and having a "color" man add an entertaining description as the race starts, progresses and finishes. (Note: "Color Man" is a term used to describe someone who's description of an activity builds an exciting picture in one's mind - like early radio programs, etc.).
Carlos, os motores utilizados nesses hovercrafts são preferencialmente motores 2 tempos (antigos jet skis, ultraleves, snowmobiles) ou motores de 4 tempos (principalmente acima de 500 cm³) utilizados em motocicletas, por serem opções leves e com uma significativa potência disponível. Lembrando que esses hovercrafts do vídeo são para competição. Um hovercraft de passeio pode utilizar, desde motores estacionários, até motores veiculares (carros), tudo depende do tamanho e desempenho pretendido.
Carlos, a Universal Hovercraft utiliza motores estacionários de 35 HP e atingem até 80 km/h. O problema é que no brasil esses motores podem custar até 5 mil reais. Outras companhias utilizam motores Subaru, com pouco mais de 100 HP, arrefecimento líquido e velocidades superiores a 80 km/h. Motores comuns em nosso país, e já consagrados pelo uso aeronáutico experimental, são os motores Volkswagen a ar e o AP. Mas existe uma grande questão por trás de todo o projeto. Seu sistema de flutuação e propulsão será provido pela mesma hélice ou por hélices diferentes? Vais utilizar um ou dois motores?
