After five months of riding and nearly 2000 miles of mixed terrain, I'm extremely impressed. Anyone who fusses over a little horsepower and top end speed, will never truly understand or appreciate what the Wolvy is about. Save a couple mild tweaks(tilt steering and adjusting seats) Yamaha has definitely hit a homerun.

Glad to see a smaller UTV from Yamaha. The plus size Viking is just too big for a lot of folks.

Better than a Rhino, but still not in competition with the Wildcat, RZR, or Commander. JMO.

Will ther ba a 50" wide trail version. This is not legal on PA trails and won't fit in my toy hauler. I need a 50" wide unit like the RZR. I like this unit. But, want a 50" wide one, Any chance?

I am a true yamaha fan 8 of my motorcycle's and the only quad I have bought to date have been Yamaha's. I love my 550 Grizzly how ever as every one else keeps upping their game, Why does Yamaha not folllow them when they can make a 82 hp 500cc twin cyl.snowmobile yet they build an all new sXs and still use the enimic 45hp 700,I don't think my next quad or a sXs will be a Yamaha.Sorry guy's either lead follow or get out of the way,

I don't know how much power this is making but it's faster than the Teryx 783 that's making 57 HP. This Wolverine is no slouch and IMO is quite a bit better than anything out there 800 cc's and under.

It has a different 700cc engine not the same one that is in their other quads. Its a bit bigger.

Snowmobiles that the advantage of "guaranteed" cold ambient temperatures for cooling and snow is used as a cooling agent. sxs have to be designed for operating in 115F temps going up long steep hills at slow speeds. Snowmobiles have an entirely different application and environment, so they can produce more reliable horsepower at those cold temps. It would be nice if every UTV had 80+ horsepower.

Looks like a good dual purpose recreational UTV. But its not a RZR period. Might be more reliable, but way less fun factor.

You are correct, it's not a RZR, it's not made with cheap Chinese steel, cheap poor quality parts and it's not built in Mexico. It's engineered for quality built right here in America. Comparing the RZR 800 to the Yamaha Wolverine is like comparing a $350 High Point 1911 to a $3,500 Wilson Combat 1911. When you say fun factor, this Wolverine will corner harder and faster than a RZR 800. It is almost 61" wide vs a RZR 50" wide. The Wolverine has way better suspension and better travel and better ground clearance. The 708 cc single DOHC vs the 760 cc twin is much closer in power than you think. The Wolverine can go anywhere a RZR can and then some and probably get there faster with better suspension and better handling.

VitalYFZ Ok so if it's 60 inches wide you cant compare it to a RZR 800 that's 50 inches wide, now it move's up to the RZR 900S and Can-am Maveric XXC and the Wildcat sport and of those three the wild cat make's 65 hp the RZR 75 hp and Mav 82 hp so even if they got 50 hp out of the 700 single it still does not have the power to weight ratio of the other 3 so if your going to call something R-SPEC it better be race spec and not just a small viking I'm not saying it's a bad machine I just want Yamaha wake up and build a high horse power version of a sXs or a quad, they have the durability and i know they could , because right now Can-Am and Polaris are kicking thier ass

Allan Parker The whole 50" wide trail days are out dated. Very few places are stuck riding 50" trails these days and more and more are getting wider due to the UTV's taking over. Ten years ago it was all quads on the trails with a side x side here and there. Now it is almost reversed. I don't think Yamaha will ever make a 50" wide side x side, even the Rhino was 54" wide. Trying to pigeon hole the Wolverine into the full blown sport class because it's 60" wide isn't fair IMO. Yamaha will be releasing their full blown sport shortly for those that want to go that route. If you are looking for an aggressive trail machine, this is the bees knees I think. Buying a 22k RZR 1000 for that is a waste of money. I ride with them all the time and they are going 20-30 MPH at most and never come close to using all that travel or power. Where we ride the trails get technical and rough and the Wolverine will shine. So if you are not living in PA or a few other places limited to 50" trails and aren't looking for an all out sport machine for the dunes then the Wolverine is the best thing out there IMO and it's only $13000.

VitalYFZ lol comparing this to a old rzr 800 that is no longer being made haha its the year 2015 and yamaha is still competing with models from 08 09. a 900s rzr would smoke this thing out of the water. This heavy pig gutless machine. Its reliable because it doesnt have the power so it won't break parts or blow belts lol. what a joke

Mike Paulson I'm comparing it to the 2014 RZR 800 they were selling just six months ago. I'll compare it to the current 900 that is selling for $13k+ too. I'll take this Wolverine over it all day everyday and as a matter of fact that's exactly what I am going to do as soon as it arrives at my local dealer. Comparing the two is like comparing a $350 High Point 1911 to a $3,500 Wilson Combat 1911. I don't care if the High Point is a 10mm and the Wilson Combat is a 9mm. Quality is quality and junk is junk. The RZR is made in a third world country "Mexico" with poor quality parts and cheap Chinese steel. They have the worse reliability in the industry and they have the worse consumer rating. Spend your money how you'd like, I'll be in a Yamaha that's built right here in the U.S.A. and engineered for quality.

Wow the new Yamaha has not even been sold to the general public, but yet it sounds like a few on here have put hundreds of miles on them. And the rzr is such a piece of junk but yet it outsells everything out there.

DAMN, they have done it again! Made another atv that cant keep up with anyone! bet it cost just as much as an RZR 800, and will get eatin alive buy the RZR.

+84regal hookshard Depends on where and how you use the machine. Yamaha is not saying this machine is designed for power and speed. There is a market for that and the new YXZ addresses that but this machine is 10K cheaper and can go where no YXZ dare go. Proof?? Look at the video labeled "2016 Yamaha Wolverine Rock Climbing" Hop in your super turbo, 130HP, 25K machine and give that a try LOL!!!

+Luc Vallières HEY.....Doesn't Chrysler own Jeep?? I don't see them putting hemi's into Wranglers....I guess those idiots just don't know what their doing?? They are pretty well recognized as the leader. There are high HP options with other models. Go spend 18-25M and get your ass handed to you on a high percentage of the trails by the 13M Wolverine!!

Top speed...???
@leonardmozingo907
@leonardmozingo907 8 лет назад
+Luc Vallières Go get a Z01 Corvette and you get all you can handle. Who cares how fast when you are going over a technical trail with rocks, hills, and ditches and streams that will only let you go so fast...That is what this was built for and I would have to say they nailed it

+leonard mozingo, You do realize my comment is 1 years old. And now Yamaha have the top speed whit the new 3 cylinders sport model.
