2016 Yukon XL Denali third brake light removal 

This was perfect! Worked like a charm and my third brake light is back up and running. It was a little nerve wracking prying the plastic from the main light housing, but I bought some plastic pry bars, and they did the trick.

Dude!! Spot on .. took about 35 minutes to swap it out .. and I was trying to be gentle and not bust it up. Many thanks for the simplified instruction. Just for laughs, I got a quote from dealer. $300 for part ( oem 170 online ) .. 350ish for labor. Talk about a shake down... Smh. Thanks again!

Thank you so much for this tutorial!!! I somehow got water in mine and doesn't works anymore. At first, I thought it was like those cars back then with a panel that you open, take out the bulb and replace it. Sheesh! Why the hell they had to make it so difficult to replace the light? Add to that, wasn't even a light bulb. You have to buy a whole new housing which cost me over $150. Water better not get in it again!!!

Great video, the changeout took less than an hour (including putting away my tools and washing up). Bought the brake light from Amazon for less than $100, so total investment was $100 + one hour of my time.

Thanks for this video! You took the intimidation out of this process and I just did my light this morning on my 2017 Yukon XL. It was not too difficult, the hardest part was just getting the body panels to clip back in place but overall on a scale of 1-10 I’d rate this job a 5 in terms of difficulty. Thanks again! Thats whatvi thought when I saw the other video , just to many steps has to be an easier way. Thank you I was going to just try and pry it up but I see you have remove a few screws first.

Great info here. One thing I’d like to mention is the fact that a Tahoe brake light is not compatible with the Yukon. I wanted it because it was cheaper, available in tinted, & I’m not a fan of the chrome backing on the original. Sure enough, the plug on the tail light is not the same.

How much was the light and where did you get it.?

I’m calling BS in this. How did you remove the four 10mm studs? Mine won’t budge and even tried a rubber mallet. Then I noticed the star lock washer. Put it back together and did this will be another day job
