Wish it would come to Australia and have the option of the same engine as the CX9...maybe it should be called the CX6 as it a longer version of the CX5 otherwise looks like great quality and value
It will come to Australia. The diesel engine in the CX-5 is world class, and this engine is an improvement. Last year, when German and Japanese governments perform NOx emission audits in wake of the VW scandal, this was the only engine among the two countries found to match published emissions in on-road tests (i.e. it was the only non cheating engine on sale). The reason for this is likely to be that it's the only diesel of its type, with low compression that allows for a more complete combustion and less NOx as a result. The CX-9 engine certain is nowhere near as good as the diesel in the CX-8.
But wait for 2019 to 2020 - Mazda is releasing their Skyactiv-X SPCCI engine, which is considered to be the "holy grail" of combustion engines. Almost all large car manufacturers have attempted to create a very lean petrol combustion engine for decades. All have failed. Mazda has used a lot of the tech gained from their world record breaking Skyactiv-D (the CX-8 engine) and Skyactiv-G to create an HCCI like engine which will have the benefits of diesel (lean, high torque, fuel economy) with the benefits of petrol (power, acceleration). Even better is the in current testing, it has a very wide tolerance to being very fuel efficient even when rpm is high (i.e. you push it hard, and it still has low fuel economy). Mazda patented the technology, and almost immediately after this Toyota came knocking to sign a deal for Mazda to supply them the new engines for Toyota's (Toyota tried and failed at this tech), in return for sharing Toyota's hybrid tech. Nice work! Read this: www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/its-amazing-that-mazdas-skyactiv-x-engine-tech-works-so-well/
Toi aussi t'es fan de Mazda de face avant on dirait une cx 5 mais a l'arrieee c'est celui d'une cx 9 c'eet un mix des 2 dommage qu'on a pas ça en france (t 'es partout )
Ground clearance isn't required in Japan. However, the CX-8 will be sold in Japan and Australia (Australia will be only market with both CX-9 and CX-8). Australia really does need ground clearance. But in Australia, a country that has the highest ownership per capita for full 4WD vehicles, anyone really needing ground clearance will not buy a city SUV.
