Absolutely 💯 true. I requested my dealer to turn on OCR when I purchased my new truck April 2018. Looked at me like I had 3 heads. With my phone in hand and step by step instructions with pictures...to the back we walked to speak with the diesel mechanic. He as well had no idea he had this available via forescan. 5 minutes later walla. My truck has never been stopped during a regen, always complete them, plan my trips around them. This my friend, is why I am ordering a new truck with a 7.3...or deleting this one. I'm sick of it.

@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod it really sucks as I love my powerstroke diesels. Since 1996 I've owned 7 (and a couple cummins but we wont talk about that🤭). What are your thoughts on the 7.3 with 3.73's and a 10 speed? I test drove one today and built one to order. I plan to think hard about it over weekend and make my choice Monday...order new or delete my current one which only has 30K. I did purchase the extended 6 year 100,000 miles extended warranty and understand I take take chance of voiding it. I do use a fuel adder every time I fill up (hot shot secret), as they claim added lubricity for the CP4.2, cetane booster etc. If I keep this truck I was also considering the "disaster prevention kit" by SPE. Man, sorry...that was a lot but would love your opinion on all the above. Thank you sir

just got a 2018 f250 in Alaska, our was not turned on it was only in auto regeneration, living in Fairbanks, ak. I short stop drive a lot , so just had dealer turn on manual regen showed 90% so glad I turned it on

Turned it on on my 2017 F250 Lariat using ForScan as soon as I got the truck, an absolute must have. I used it mostly to prevent an auto regen by turning off auto regen in the cluster panel if I know I’m at 90-95% and doing a short run. I then perform a commanded stationary regen when it full if I know I’m not going to drive far enough, it takes about 20-25 miles of driving for mine to complete an auto regen. Takes about 25 minutes to do stationary regen, need to make sure your engine temp is above 140 and have at least 1/4 tank of diesel or it won’t start the manual regen. Also auto regen stops if you drop below 30mph for 10’s of seconds. Great videos man, learning a lot from you and your subscribers, have had my truck for 4 years, love it and plan on keeping it for many years to come, your videos with help that be more fun.👍

When I ordered my F350 I added OCR from the factory. Everything was turned on. Does both the auto regen and OCR. Tech at my dealer didn’t have a clue as to what it was, he knows now. He told me to bring it in and do a forced regen once a year, said auto and OCR only satisfied the computer, again gave him a bit of schooling. As always great information. Thanks

That was the first thing I did on my 17 F250. Did it with Forscan. Pretty straight forward process.. But you are correct, DPF is like one of the most important things to know the full status of at all times IMO.. Great vids, looking forward to your Forscan vid. Thanks!!

Was pretty neat today looked down 95% stuffed filter took a nice turnpike drive locked in at 65 and just waited till it hit 100% the regen kicked in and over the next 50 miles it worked itself down to 0%. Better than letting it sit full in the garage all carbon coked until the next time we pull a trailer !

After watching one of your vids back in 2019, I had the OCR function turned on for my 2019. I do wish (and I have sent this into Ford as customer feedback) that there would be an indicator light or some other mechanism that would tell me when my truck is in regen and on for the entire cycle. My '19 only has the "base" info screen and doesn't tell me that it is "Exhaust Cleaning" like my 2011 did. Greta videos!

Don’t forget .. enabling OCR also allows one to turn off “Auto Regen” temporarily. That way when your getting close to an auto regen but not at hwy speeds for 20 mins .. you can postpone the regen. I had the dealer activate OCR as part of my purchase. Love the control this feature provides.

Should be standard from the factory. Can always get an Edge cts2 or 3 and watch your DPF fill up lol. It also lets you do an OCR.

I suspect the reason OCR is not activated by default is due to the danger and factory warning. Your 6.7 exhaust temps exceed 500deg during a regen. There’s gonna be “that person” who clicks past the “clearance warning” .. starts a regen in their garage and burns their house down because they didn’t heed the warning and directions about needing 10ft clearance from any combustibles.

Can definitely get this done using forscan too. Can get a lot done with forscan for not a lot of dough if you do a little research. Same with IDS for that matter as long as you don’t run any other OEM software on the same OS it’ll work great. Super cool video and well explained how important it can be to monitor the level so you know what’s going on. Only 5k mikes on my 6.7 but from what I’ve heard the auto regen doesn’t bring it down to 0% full? Did my first manual regen a few days ago after getting it working via forscan and it went to 0% for 1-2 days of driving. But I’ll tell you what you better watch where you park when you activate it because if you touch the brake pedal it will instantly stop the regen process and the exhaust will gas out a garage from 8-10 feet away even on an angle and anything closer than that right in the line of fire where the tailpipe exit is...will be 300-500 degrees F in no time. Regen prob takes 15-20 minutes.

I'll probably try forscan but I drive 95 percent highway and do a full regen at least once a week. My commute is over 80 miles round trip rarely below 70 mph. Plus and additional 12k to 15k 400 mile one way trips a year. I believe a lot of issues are caused by A not doing proper maintenance including fuel cutane and lube boosters, fuel pumps etc. Followed by idling and stop and go. All new trucks will intrupt the cycle if enough stop and go's are detected. Also I buy my fuel at truck stops diesel is hydroscopic meaning pulls in moisture, especially bio diesel. And truck stops go through a lot fuel, plus if some fleets go down due to bad fuel you got some big boys with you going umm nope fine till fueling there.

It is amazing that my Ford Dealer does not know how to enable this. I wish a ForScan application buy list was available for a F-250 not a zillion vendors and a zillion imputes from all who are playing with it. Love the RU-vid of a individual buying it loading it on the computer plugging it in and getting then the no data no connection available death screen. And they wonder why people don’t buy it.

I sent my truck to the largest northern Ontario dealership in Canada to have this OCR turned on with a list of other options from forscan . They had my 2017 f350 king ranch all day and when I went to pick it up they told me than none of my request could be done on my 2017 superduty. How do I get this turned on, who educates these dealership. Ford even has a you tube video on how it works. Also can IDS do the many things that forscan does, ex: remove double honk when exiting truck with key in pocket, bambi mode, secure idle, global windows. Thanks!

Love your videos buddy! Im waiting to install a readylift 2.5" leveling kit on my 17 f350 platinum 6.7. It has the adaptive steering and now im worried about having issues with the truck after installing the leveling kit. Apparently guys are having faults with the system and BLIS after installing their leveling kit. Can you shed any light or give me any pointers on this!? Much appreciated.

@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod I just turned the DPF filter percentage on I'm at 55% so I'm gonna give it a few days I'm hoping it's as easy as I think. I enabled manual/w auto in the icp and the pdm. now I can uncheck the auto regen in the settings screen on dash so fingers crossed

You have a customer base on RU-vid that like their truck but want someone not only competent but interested in the platform. I watch a channel called the Car Wizzard, he does a lot of exotics for Hoovies garage, and people travel to get his services, honest and capable. You need to put a business plan together for a location, keep videos on RU-vid going, save up for the equipment you need and it would make an excellent video series, kinda like Gonzquad. Start training underlings on basics to free you up for complex work. Have someone in an office running phones and paper and parts and organizing. You will be very busy and training some good techs and making good money, even on RU-vid. I hope to see it in your channel, you have lots of skill. God bless.

Half my regens are on the highway and the other half is in my driveway when I’m not driving far enough to complete a full cycle. Any harm in doing the parked regen more than the highway cycle?

Heat soak long term cooling system wear and gasket wear heat is hard on rubber orings gaskets and coolant hoses radiators are glued together . Wire harnesses plastics . Passive is always better if possible ,

Can ocr still be turned on if I have the smaller 4 In display on the instrument cluster? A dealer I took it to said that they couldn't turn it on because of that.

The scan tool that i use.....has a dongle in the computer & a wireless communication device. Ford scan tool very expensive

@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod thank you. I didn’t know IDS was a thing until watching your video. The software is a free download but the license is expensive…$899 it do for one year. As soon as i know the DPF regen cost I’ll decide if buying it is worth the investment…

When I built my 2020 Tremor I swear it was like $250 option to have added on which I didn’t, few clicks here and there and boom...saved me $250 letting PTT do it he’s the man!

I have it activated on my truck but for some reason as soon as it hits 99% it starts an auto regen. I have no clue how to get it up to 100%. Any ideas?

Yuk. I, although rare, like to do it early. Knowing I won’t have time in the coming days to deal with it but also knowing it’s quickly coming. So doing it at say 90% full. Something you CAN do plugged in with Forscan. I was hoping for a method without the use of a laptop.

I have a 2021 and just today I went to two dealerships and they have NO clue. One of them even asked me, is this something only on a diesel???? WTF I just said never mind. I don't want you changing anything.

Love your willingness to progress society ty. Quick question, if my 2017 f450 platinum has 75, 000 miles on it and I drain the pitcock valves to both radiator systems, pull the drain plug or glow plug on the passenger side and then pull that hose that’s in the bottom middle of the truck to drain 8.5 gallons of fluid out total and then close the valves, put the glow plug engine plug back in with a tiny amount of red Locktite, reinstall the bottom hose, is it ok to just fill both reservoirs back up to the max full lines and then start the engine and turn the heat on full blast, let the truck run for 15 minutes and then top off the reservoirs and then drive the truck 20 miles and top off the reservoirs again back slightly above the max fill lines? Is there gonna be air pockets somewhere in the system doing it this way? Is there anything I should be worried about by doing it this way? Ty again for all your work and knowledge.

I did it at my companies shop after work and then the drive home was the 20 miles. I was just making sure I don’t have air pockets somewhere in the system doing it this way or making sure I didn’t mess anything up. Make a video showing the proper way to drain flush and fill!! I’m not a mechanic clearly lol. Ty for your help.

Maybe not the glow plug, the heater plug is what I meant. I dunno wtf I’m talking about cuz I’m not a mechanic lol. I pulled the plug on the block on the passenger side of the truck and got like 3 more quarts of fluid out. Altogether I got like 8.5 gallons out of the truck. Doesn’t matter, sounds like it’ll be alright. Thanks again! Keep up the good work!
