I have come up with eight (nine) very useful tips and tricks to keep your BMW X1 looking great and hopefully teaching you a couple things you never thought of before. Most of these tips work on any car but I really personalize it toward X1 owners and perspective owners.

The clear floor mats are horrible. That is probably the easiest way to make your car look like shit inside.

Thanks. Not your usual tips. So simple to remove the center headrest. Didn’t cross my mind. Never going have 5 people in there anyway!

Hey Jeff. Great and insightful video for new BMW X1 owners. Recently I had a big scratch on the front left bumper and minor scratches on the door of my X1. What's the best way to get rid of the scratches. Great to have DIY.

Guy has done a really nice job to preserve this car for its new owner. What is the reason to buy this car and then wrap it all up in cheap, shitty covers and some silicone mats? You gotta enjoy it!

FYI : My 2016 X1 F48 key fob/blip opens the hatch when closed, but closes it when open, using a long press! Only need to open doors with one pull of the interior door handle, and not two pulls! On some trim models, leaving the mirror selector switch positioned to the passenger side mirror, will allow the mirror to automatically turn down to view the curb, for ease of parking!

I put the 3m bra on the hood, mirrors, headlights and rear bumper too. Also Meguiars Ultra detailer to wipe and protect interior plastics. Always use microfiber cloth. Also Meguirs ceramic spray polish on car including windshield. Use in mag wbeels too for protection. Spray interior carpets with 3M scotch guard against dirt and salt. You can also buy chrome handle inserts to protect the area inside the door handles from scratches.

I just purchased the same year as yours used a CPO about a month ago - so far I'm lowing it. I've watched tons of videos but most are showing the oil filter above which for sure is not my engine. I think we have the F48? Do you know where the oil filter is located? I'm not a mechanic but do want to do my own oil changes moving forward?

There is one more thing. Every car manufacturer gives you for free a book called manual. All the tricks are described there. It requires one thing only = to read it.

Just get car wax/rubbing compound for the door scratches.

That drivers car mat looks crap. Watch with the wax near the wheels because it will cause problems if you get it near the brakes.

Not an option as far as I know. Closest thing I could find in the settings is 'random' which is equivalent to 'shuffle. You can get there by, while on the CD screen, tap your idrive controller right, then check off the box 'Random'.

Do you really need to show people in the US that you need to clean your car in order to get rid of the dust? Do you think people are so naive or brainless? A 6 year-old child in Europe knows that they have to clean a toy if it is dusty or dirty.
