I absolutely love loud v8s till the day I die, but the option of stealth when needed seems pretty cool. Especially when you live in a quiet neighborhood and have to leave for work at 5am.
MojaveKY just wondering since you've heard both in person. Is there a significant difference between the Borla Atak axleback and the NPP in person? They sound about equal in terms of loud thru the video. thanks!
yeah the sound is different from both. I think the borla sounds great and if I did not have NPP I would get it but if you have NPP. not worth the money for a difference in exhaust note.
right on bro. I'm doing research on how to make it louder without throwing away the NPP. One possibility is getting the X-Pipe from Borla and connecting that to the NPP stock exhaust system.
biggest would be headers but not sure how far you want to go. Also CAI is supposed to make some difference as well. NPP is a nice note but I would enjoy more of a nasty note
Hello I already ordered this Borla 140727 ATAK ,I still waiting to delivery for my 2018 Camaro zl1 1le package ,do you think is worth 2000$ for this item? Thank you
I would do away with the NPP (pull the fuse) and have the AFM deleted (tuned out) because that AFM system is bad for the engine. Especially your valves and lifters. Leads to premature lifter and engine failure.
Very nice. I love the Atak exhaust. I went with Flowmaster American thunder npp. It’s probably the most extreme of the exhaust out there for camaro. Outlaw muffler and delta 40 series the npp switches between. The outlaw side can be a bit much for some because it can gurgle and pop at high RPM. And it does drone, but I kind of like that and disappears at 60 mph plus. The Borlas are built probably the best out of all of them from what Ive heard though. I still haven’t cut the resonators, but may just wait to cut them off all together when I get Headers.
Great review and comparison I have not found any post that compare stock to Borla and I did not know the sound difference that was helpful on my decision
MojaveKY I agree I do think I will stay stock Borla is a little deeper sound but not enough for me to change out thank you Video helped me on my decision
Awesome! I just got my Borla ATAK Axleback Dual mode week ago for my 2017 1LE! Hopefully get it installed next weekend. Surely video doesn’t do it justice probably sounds even better in person. I ordered the carbon fiber with black piping tips to hopefully help the tips look better my stock NNP dual mode tips look horrible 😣 thanks for posting!
Is the Atak much louder than the dual mode exhaust package chevy has for $995? I'm not sure if I want to buy it, I want it louder but don't know if its worth the 2k.
Why are you saying that stealth sounds awful? THAT'S THE POINT GENIUS! If you're leaving early in the morning or coming in late at night and you don't want to wake your wife and kids....honda accord mode is A+
@@MojaveKY I have this same exhaust on my SS 1LE, and it sounds completely neutered when in stealth mode (which it never is). That's the point of stealth mode..
Borla sounds nice. Definitely much deeper than stock. I am just not sure if I can swallow that cost just for axle back. Flowmaster definitely has a good price point, but I am thinking more along the lines of Stainless Works (no cutting no welding).
yes and if you have the NPP controls that means you paid for the NPP ($1200) and took it off then paid another whatever amount. It ends up being a lot of cash
Yep. I have 18 1LE so it came with it. But you are absolutely right about it. I will drive it for at least a little while before changing the exhaust. Difficult to justify dropping $2K for a little more sound (although its a nice sound) 😀
@Virus world the catback and axel back should be fine. never had issue at dealer with them but if you touch the cats and headers I have heard people have the dealer deny warranty
Is it me or does your exhaust seem louder in Track Sport than the Borla? The Borla definitely has that deeper tone that I prefer though. Stealth mode 😂😂😂😂 just snap off that button so no one presses it.
@@mitul.323 does you know if it stays in whatever exhaust mode I put it in? Like for example if I leave it in track or sport will it always start up loud?
The thing about driving in Stealth mode is when your giving it the beans, and run up on a cop you can kill the noise! I normally ride in track mode, so I can hear the goodness of Murcia Muscle! But there are those times that stealth has saved me! I’m getting headers and full exhaust but tossed up on if I should ditch the stock mufflers are keep them at the moment because of the Dual mode that it came with in the first place.
I just pulled my NPP fuse, so my exhaust is always in track mode. No cop will pull you over for that exhaust unless your revving it up, right next to them.
Stealth Mode is still loud at cold start. I honestly believe that I still disturb neighbors every morning when I crank my Camaro. Its still pretty throaty the only difference between it and sport/track mode is that after the engine rev down to idle rpm, the exhaust note is “little” more subdued and a lot less deep. From the passenger compartment stealth mode does give the Camaro a more refined engine sound when accelerating with no drone. Still a PITA but the coolest thing about stealth mode is hearing the exhaust flap close just prior to the engine starting and controlling which exhaust tip you’ll see the condensation from the warm exhaust hit the cold air through.
I got the mbrp catback xp series race version. It seems way louder than the atak. I can't confirm, but holy fuck it's loud. I'll have to buy the muffler pipes that come on the street version of it if it attracts too much police attention or wakes up my neighbors too often lol. LOUD AF with all cats and everything stock besides a rotofab cai, would recommend!
yes my car is lowered on the aFe lowering springs. RU-vid flagged that video because of music so I took it down but if I find the original source data I will put the lowering video back up. No spacers but the 50th Gen in the video has some sick wide tires
