Sounds almost like a deleted 6.7 power stroke with that scream at the end
@HunterSkiff
@HunterSkiff 5 лет назад
Thats because the factory downpipe is still on the truck. I have an aFe downpipe installed now (im in Canada), stay tuned for a sound comparison. That howling sound went away

Do you still have the truck and if so how has the tune been ? Have u had any issues?
@HunterSkiff
@HunterSkiff 2 года назад
Yup still have the truck and still tuned. Running strong the last 50k no issues

Hey, I know this video is older but I just got one of these diesels. Curious how much it cost you to delete it or did you do it yourself? Is it a straight pipe with AFE downpipe?
@HunterSkiff
@HunterSkiff 3 года назад
If my memory serves me correctly tuning was around $1000 and the exhaust another $300-$400. It has a AFE turbo back exhaust with the stock exhaust flange at the base of the downpipe. Nobody has worked on this truck but myself

@@HunterSkiff nice, yeah I like the noise it makes at the end so I’d like the exact setup. Where’d you get the exhaust from?

@@HunterSkiff all I’m seeing are the dpf back ones not the turbo back

Exhaust was from XDP.com No chance you'll find one these days, EPA has cracked down on deletes and parts to defeat emissions
@Livingontravel
@Livingontravel 3 года назад
You think a Spade tuner and Flopro exhaust would be good? Then I would just need the EGR delete correct?

Any problems or codes yet? I just ordered my delete and what not from motor ops and they said the 17’s sometimes will throw a code
@HunterSkiff
@HunterSkiff 4 года назад
I had the truck throw a code which triggered the CEL on the first version of the tune. I emailed them and they sent me an updated tune same day which cleared the code and made the CEL go away. This was many months ago so I would assume the current tune files won't throw any codes

Hi did u do the tuning ur self / egr delete and what happen to the hose and wire that were hook to the exhaust ? How do u like the tune till now ? I have a 2016 Colorado diesel which would like to do it to. Thanks would really appreciate ur answer on this.
@HunterSkiff
@HunterSkiff 5 лет назад
Hello. The tuning was done by MotorOps. I believe theyre out of Canada. Once you have their tune installed, you can remove several of the sensors/injectors from the exhaust system. You can either cap the old sensor plugs, or remove them completely. I love their tunes. Ive been running their tune 3, which is a sport economy tune, as well as their TCM tune as well. Overall very pleased. 10/10 would recommend

@@HunterSkiff thanks for ur response did u need a transmission tune or not or not recommend thanks .
@HunterSkiff
@HunterSkiff 5 лет назад
@@MrTesedgar I would highly recommend getting the transmission tuning as well. I think most companies require you to get both anyways. The shift strategy and firmness is much improved. I do believe you need the TCM tuning in order to see a noticeable increase in milage

I was gonna do motor ops, I’ve heard good things and bad things so I am just going to a diesel shop and having them do it all, tune and full delete
@HunterSkiff
@HunterSkiff 5 лет назад
@@hunterschaferoutdoors0219 As far as I know MotorOps uses Duramax tuner tunes. I have no no issues with the truck with their tunes. It drives like a totally different truck. I would be very hesitant to get tunes from local tuners, especially those with little or no experience with the 2.8. Its not all about power, the Motor Ops/Duramax Tuner guys spent thousand of miles fine tuning the drivability with their tunes

EGR, DEF. and DPF. You cannot just do the EGR, it’s all or nothing

@@chrisgarcia4665 Just unplugged. I have no plans of ever making the truck emissions complaint again, thus no worried about soot accumulation

Mpg change?
@HunterSkiff
@HunterSkiff 5 лет назад
Yes up 5mpg in my commute. The biggest improvement in milage comes with around town driving at just under highway speeds. My daily commute is 35 miles round trip. Most highway between 45-60mph and a stretch of a few miles that I do 75-80 mph. Prior to tuning, the truck averaged 25.2mpg, and now I teeter on 29.9-30.0mpg. On a road trip with cruise control set around 70-72mph I wouldn't be surprised if you would average 40mpg
@USpatriot87
@USpatriot87 5 лет назад
What did everything run? I have a 17 ZR2 averaging around 20-22 stock.
@HunterSkiff
@HunterSkiff 5 лет назад
I’m assuming you mean cost. The ECM and TCM tuning was $1300 and then the exhaust was another $450. The tuning is well worth the money, it’s a totally different truck with the tune

I have a 17 ZR2 stock with a S&B CAI. On the highway I get 31-34 mpg. I posted a video when the truck almost got 33 mpgs. I cant wait to tune and delete it.

Not babying anything. Doing 65mph-70mph I get excellent fuel mileage. I also use a very good fuel additive. Thanks for the reply.
