To all those people in the comments complaining about the price of the ZR2. Grow up, get a better paying job, and quit your bitching. This is what new trucks that are capable cost nowadays.
This was clearly them filming a press event at a remote location. They also get cars at their facility for testing. I think car releases go in cycles and it's the season for these kind of events; they probably film and release other segments at other times due to staffing and resource allocation, production scheduling, stuff like that.
Mathew Clark I'm sure it is, but the title to the video is a road test. That usually means instrumented testing. Not that worried about it, but always liked to see their results.
I would buy one new if I had the money. There is just so much appeal for me to get a Crew Cab Diesel. But in Canada they above $50k for a regular V6 thanks to dealer markup.
I have a short wheelbase 5.3 Trailblazer and my buddy had a 5.3 2wd Colorado. Zero reason they couldn't put the new Direct Injected 5.3 L V8 355 HP into this.
I'd say the 2.8 I-4 diesel is a wonderful engine choice, but a torquey V8 option would be nice. Wonder why they don't make a small block diesel V8. a 3.2 or 4.0 Diesel V8 would be perfect for this truck. Not heavy enough to really ruin it, but a torque monster. And the second criticism with it is that there's only a 6-speed auto for the diesel. Meh! Chevy is too lazy to tune for the eight or ten speed?
A V8 would have been awesome in this truck! Probably get close to the same gas mileage of the V6 since it doesn't have to work so hard. It's a disappointment in my eyes, doesn't have the power to stand out above it's main rival the Tacoma. Could have been something special like the Raptor.
Mihaly Lukacs The 2.8 diesel makes more torque than most V8 half-ton trucks did 10 years ago. Add a tune and the 2.8 is capable of making 450 ft-lb of torque @2000 RPM. Not bad for a midsize truck.
Oh yeah, definitely, hoch! My only personal qualm is that they're still on that six-speed. No reason why the diesel doesn't deserve some transmission love.
My grandpa got a new gmc pretty much loaded for 46 thousand. So i said lets look at a Colorado and they wanted 40 grande. Why would you want half the truck for really not much less.
Perfect for 17 year olds with daddy's line of credit so they can stick light bars and color changing halos on and rev the fuck out of it in the McDonalds parking lot.
Roy Diedesch Lol then you should listen to a Tacoma sometime. Fuckers sound like sewing machines. Google "Taco tick" or "Tacoma tick". Those noises are normal for a gas direct injection engine. GM went back to a roller chain to increase timing chain life on the latest version of the 3.6 V6. The reason Ford Duratech and Ecoboost V6's have so many problems with timing chains wearing out early is due to the cheaper but quieter inverted tooth timing chain they use.
But the land cruiser don't have front and rear lockers and can't even begin to go where the zr2 does.i have a jeep Rubicon and a zr2 on order now with the lift and 35 tires.
Yes Motorweek commenting about how Motorweek speculated that Chevy would launch a Ford Raptor competitor but instead launched a mid-sized Off-Road capable truck is Chevy marketing BS.
You should've just started with the pricing so I didn't have to watch all that worthless nonsense. This is an off-road truck for women. Pink should be the primary color option.
How's all that SJWing working out for you? You like the Donald Trumps of the world becoming president? How about Nazis running over your special snowflake friends? 2017 called, and there's still no jobs for lazy millennials like you.
Seems like 75% the truck a Ford Raptor is for 75% the cost a Ford Raptor is, is perfect for people who make 75% the income someone who would by a Ford Raptor would make. Yet another special snowflake incapable of processing simple information.
No one offroads like this - driving around like a maniac. You'd be crashing into other vehicles and running over razers and atv's all day long. Raptors and pickups like this are for Monster bro's and mall crawlers that drive like assholes on roads. Only real offroads are Wranglers and 4Runners
Koddo Huh? Where I've been off-roading in the desert people drive faster then what they showed in this video. That's why your required to have a flag above your truck so people see you.
