2017 Chevy Malibu 1.5L Ecotec Engine Start up and Idling Noises 

Hey man what's up I have a 2018 Chevy Malibu and it started doing that at 47,000 MI. Like you said the car was super quiet at first, I don't know what to do with it? I still owe about 14,000 on it!!

If you don't mind telling me what did you do with your Chevy Malibu?

My 2018 was quite with 130 on it now at 140 it sounds like it’s fluttering loud. What would that be??

I’m not too sure what it is but my engine has this it’s not as loud but it taps like that but the taps every so often while starting up and idle I can’t hear it while I drive but when I have the music off and all I can make out a slight sound of it it worries me I’m not sure if the ow-20 oil is too thin for it but I kinda want to try switching to 5w-20 because I’ve heard it’s almost the same just a little thicker I don’t know but the knocking is never good in the engine it could be metal on metal contact a point where oil isn’t flowing or something I’m not an expert but I’m trying to look into it

Mine just started doing the ticking noise too, whenever I put it in gear it gets quieter or stops sometimes

Same mine only has 51k miles but I thought it was pretty normal

Wistle sound at 0.20 seconds is very interesting.

Needs oil. Should only use Dexios 2 with that engine and can top up twice a year, or every 4 months. Will be silent with enough oil. Also revs calm down after a minute or too. Amazing engine that, fast, quiet and efficient when looked after properly.
