Harimoto haters need to watch how he handled the winning match point: with disbelief, candor, and respect. He's a hyped up 14 year old with mega talent and just strikes me as a good kid. I've seen the bratty, spoiled, yelling teens that can't stand losing and that's not Harimoto. He's a warrior table tennis player and we should celebrate in his victories!
lildavey09 he plays good, but it is NO reason to scream that much,..... The real great don't scream, or only at crucial Moments... You can be as respectfull before of after, but true respect is 'winning with your raket' not with your voice
He is quite loud, yes. But stop all of these hate comments - look at his skill. He has just won a World Tour at the age of 14 against a TT legend in the finals. Not something you'd see every day. Congratulations, Harimoto, well played!
Well maybe another less skilled kid can do it by walking up to Timo after every point and screaming "take that, geezer!!!!" or whatever incredibly rude behavior you want to excuse him for. Why being apologetic of something that has no place in the sport?
No offense but that comparison is ridiculous. I did not say that Harimoto's screaming is fine - no, I find it annoying too, just as most people. What I said is that people fail to accomplish his abilities. Also, there is a huge difference between rudeness and Cho'ing. Harimoto is by no means rude. In fact, he has great sportsmanship and a fair player (e.g. look at his handshakes or his behavior when he loses). He is cho'ing not because he is rude but because of other reasons (perhaps pressure and motivation, etc.) and I'm sure the pro players like Timo Boll very well know that. By no question, he has overwhelming potential and is already a world-class player. Of course, though, I do hope that he stops screaming to this extense at some point.
I understand there are too much adrenaline rush going on, i'm not comfortable with shouting/screaming player, i see it usually at basketbal games after dunks. But i think have to release the energy.
The constant screaming actually functions as demoralizing for the opponent exspecially on important points but a professional athlete, exspecially one like Timo Boll stands over that. In other words: his screaming is indeed very annoying and it´s definitly better to watch the video without sound but doesn´t affect the outcome of the game too much or at least shouldn´t.
He's a 14 years old kid, Give him a break. He can scream as much as he want for all I care. Come back in 14 years and if he's still shouting like this, I will start to hate him.
Yeah yeah, stop the hate comments, yadda yadda.. If he doesn't stop being annoying to people, he'll just become another one of those really skillful and possibly one of the greatest for the near future to come, with no real public support over his overall presence, purely just for his skill, and what is that really for without any public support? Look at Timo Boll, never really been the type of guy to win the Olympics for instance, but still his pure skill, perseverance and his presence secured him sympathies from the public which pushed him to be one of the all time greatest and legends of this sport, not only for his results in the biggest tournaments
He's ranked number 20 but he can beat number 6 & 7 in the world ( Jun MIZUTANI & Timo BOLL ) he obviously the next "Greatest of all Time'' and belongs in the top ten right now, despite the current ranking.
I know he can't beat the top Chinese Players (& Dima) but he is still just a 14 year old after all, with age extremely on his side & 4 of the top 5 players reaching their 30s and the retirement ages soon. he will have less opposition to become more of the youngest everything ... He is improving so quickly, since two month back, when Timo beat him at china open. he has been able beat Timo twice, that's fast. & the difference is Huge.
Harimoto is fucking awesome as shit man this kid is super talented. As for all the hater talking about how he screams all the time, if you ever done any research you would know that he does it as a way to relax and get the tension out. Have any of you ever competed? Imagine 100's of people watching you its nerve racking.
I have competed. And when not only 100s of people are watching but also my opponent is meeting every mistake of mine with a roar, it becomes even more nerve wrecking. I don't blame the kid. I blame ITTF: they should do something about it because I (and many others) can't watch it.
Timo's knee looks like it's bothering him again. Ohh well, it was a fantastic few months from him. Really looked like it affected him at the end of the match. Hopefully it's something he can overcome.
Tyler Russin from what I see I think it's a sweaty hand. The reason why I say that because his movements following he never limps and is in a complete squat before every receive.
Even a timo having a bad day is extremely lethal. He has beaten every Olympic champion and every new prodigies consistently over past 2 decades. I mean he completely outplayed harimoto in world cup lol, beating him 4-1.
If a champion like Timo Boll is unable to be collective against a kid's scream, then I'm afraid he is not a champion. Harimoto is a rising star and truly one to be fear.
Yeah , timo beat convincingly harimoto 4-1 in world cup . He was literally just having a bad day. He has beaten every Olympic champion and prodigies over the past 2 decades, no one comes close except vladimir samsonav.
Hari is stomping his foot very hard when he serves. It is against the rules to mask the sound and thus spin with sound. Illegal serves the entire time.
magnus1983 He's 14 and He' playing against a table tennis legend. Of course there is a lot pressure and I much prefere an emltional kid to a Zhang Jike who seems like he doesn't even care about the Match.
you must haven't watched the first time when Zhang Jike beaten Timo Boll, he screamed just as much and ripped his shirt off or threw off his shoes after he beat Timo boll
Table Tennis has been a quiet game for a long time. I'm actually glad that players have started screaming. Many other sports have wild celebrations. Why should TT be an exception?
Thats what you calls psychology. Look how annoying you are. With just a scream you become annoying of him. That annoying can change how you play you know.
He's still rly good. No surprise he reached the final and I'm shocked he lost to harimoto but I honestly believed that if he was in his prime he could beat ma long/ fan zhengdong a couple of times
TopFearless you are seriously underestimating the kid here. Timo beat the new wonder kid from China, and also two top European players 4-0 his age had nothing to do with this loss.
He beat harimoto convincingly 4-1 , just 2 years later lol . He was just having a bad day which is understandable when you play in top 10 for 2 freaking decades. It takes a toll on your body.
