This program and Anna Karenina are my favorites, I don't understand why people get upset about her storytelling, that is what makes her skating so special and fun to watch!
Even though I'm not a fan of her technique, I really appreciate her incorporating a story into all her programs, it's not very common to see that nowadays
jeez what's with the dislikes on this one..... you may think she's overrated, that's your opinion (Anna Pogorilaya is actually my favourite), but nobody can argue against her being an exceptional skater from a technical standpoint who executes every element cleanly. her presentation is beautiful as well, her performances always tell a story, I love that about her programs. also holy shit if she's really working on a quad salchow, can't wait to see that eventually!! need me some ladies doing quads
ToTally exactly! ALL here judging. Where do they see her doing mistakes? Does she really have "floppy" arms? Her presentation sucks? She stops before jumping? She can't jump?! Please tell me where because I'm an Elite athlete here and I can't see it! Can they do better?! I doubt. Can't wait for her 3Axel and quad sal :)
Spirit Chaser probably not as soon as the World Cup; we _are_ talking about a quad here, after all. since they say she"s "working on it", she likely hasn't mastered it yet, as in she may have landed it once or twice, but not reliable enough to try in a competition. the risk of getting badly hurt is there, too, after all. maybe at the next grand prix though, we'll see! ^^
Technical??? If you’d know techniques for figures skating.. espcially jumps... you’d see that her lutz is on bad really bad wrong edge... most of her second jump combination are pre rotaded ... her double axel is really not textbook... go and review some video for isu textbook jump comparing to mednedeva and you’ll see that technically speaking.... im sorry but she is weak.
I really really really love her skating, of course her too!!! Especially this season's program is wonderful!! Ah~~~ I want to watch her skating live!! ( I live in Japan:/)
Japan is probably one of the places where she skates most! She'll be at Fantasty on Ice, NHK trophy and the Grand Prix Final that's in Japan this year. Last season she was skating there like three times at least I think?? Meanwhile, there's never anything happening to do with ice skating here in the UK, but one day I'll see her!!
You could have said that last season when Gracie gold got a huge score in the short program at worlds, but then choked. That was pretty much it. This season, the only one that is showing promise to beat her at worlds is Karen Chen from the US. Karen performed really good in nationals, but again, she didn't do well in the grand Prix. Consistency plays a huge role at the moment, and in this area Evgenia is one of the skaters showing the most consistency.
Karen Chen hasn't been scoring nearly as much as Evgenia though. I think she's amazing but just not there. If anyone, I think only Zagitova has a shot at beating her, and I'm rooting for her at the Olympics, her Tano's and Rippon's are so much more beautiful than Evgenia's
well, Evgenia can also do rippon's but I've heard she is choosing to add them next season or something. I have seen her do them and they look really clean and solid. I do think Evgenia needs to come up with a better combination, or one with higher points because that 3Lt+3lo from Zagitova is a killer.
Medv's tano are ugly with broken elbow form. She doesn't have a statuesque form like Brian Boitano. Zagitova has more stretched tano and she does Rippon-tano as well. But my preference among russian girls is Tsurtskaya. She doesn't need any tano or Rippon-tano, because she has jump scale. I think these 2 can beat Medv.
For some reason, all videos featuring Evgenia have polarized comments section. Calm down, everyone! :) Personally, I really like this program of hers. Her dedication was shown as clear as water. Beautiful!
This is one of my favorite, but I somehow got bothered by her score because her score last year was 70.00+ while performing. Though, great performance. I love you, Evgenia! ❤️
So obviously she is probably the most consistent skater in the world and she has lots of transitions and details in the program but I really can't see how this is a world record program. To me she still comes off somewhat "juniorish" I know that's the character in the program but still. I know I'm in the minority here but aside from her consistency and ability to compete I just don't see the wow factor in her actual skating. I prefer watching Pogorilaya who comes off more mature and powerful. I reeaaallly wish Mao Asada was in her top form because her programs this season were stellar!
no hate here, but the judges are VERY generous with the presentation marks. it's just not right in the name of fair sportsmanship to favor one skater above all the rest
This is first day and also representative of the Czech republic in this category is not very popular. On the other hand on Saturday (men's FS) the hall was full.
It's really hard to push forward (score-wise) in lady's skating without more difficult jumps. With all the jumps in the 2nd half, even if the skater is excellent at performance, still somehow the whole program seems odd to me. So excited to hear that she might be practicing 4S. (3A would be equally spectacular for ladies!)
Her triple flip is pre-rotated so under-rotated. The take off from the toe pick is a mess. You see, after the toe pick, she doesn't go into the air until the blade makes a full contact with the ice as the rotation already begins. So she does half rotation already on the ice and then takes off. That's never a good jump at all and must be deducted. The second triple toe could be downgraded. Clearly under-rotated. The loop is great. The footwork entering/coming out of it is beautiful. 42 for TES and 36 for PCS? That's too much.
Well, you think. I don't..... Fully rotated? Well done? lol if you think so, go ahead but think to yourself cuz I disagree. I gotta tell you her toe pick really IS a mess. Nice to see a rookie performing seemingly good and winning many titles but I'm just pointing out some of her technical errors as a fan of the sport. If you don't see how her toe pick is a mess, go learn more about toe jumps. And don't try to defend what she executes OBVIOUSLY WRONG. Sounds ridiculous.
Toe jumps (such as the Flip and the Toeloop in this program) should only use the toe-pick portion of the blade. Evgenia uses half of her blade, if not more, on the 3F-3Toe combination. Evgenia also has a slight donkey kick on her toe jumps.
lau victor Ok, she's a great skater but not an artist. Even when Yuzuru Hanyu perform and fell his SP and LP are still being beautiful. The fact is not in the jumps or how she skates, she doesn't give any emotion.
lau victor i find her boring. thats like my opinion, man. she just doesn't have that special quality. "sore trash" though, I like that term and will maybe use it in the future. haha
Will the Russians ever get a good choreographer? I hardly ever like their music and program construction. Still, evgenia is a star, clearly above the rest of the field ... and I love that costume!
I find her programs really boring. I couldn't even finish watching this short program. Jumps jumps jumps that's all people talk about. She's the future huh 😖
She reminds me of Tara Lipinki or Sarah Hughes. Those women, they won gold but their programs are NEVER mentioned in the same breath of greats like Kwan, Cohen or even Midori Ito etc. The thing is, this is a competition and until the other girls master their technique and get nerves of steal to compete well, she will win. At the end of the day, I hate the pantomiming programs that Ilia Averbukh does for hers with a passion but she's got mad skating skills and great jumps so until someone else masters their craft like her, she will win it all.
I agree with you. I find her performances boring. She might be good technically but there is something lacking. It's different when you watch Kim Yuna wherein when she performs, you just feel that there is something special.
QazzaF please tell me how do you find it boring, I'm not trying to be rude or something, I'm just curious. I just find her so cute and amazing when she skates. She looks like she is floating over the ice. I just love her.
Zhenya The Unbeatable proves she is still the best! Congrats, so happy for you! And your free skate dress has even entered a top on a fashion blog! jennysnotesblog.wordpress.com/2017/01/29/top-outfits-of-2017-european-figure-skating-championships-ladies/
Lovely piece of music. She needs a better choreographer...anything to do with miming (jump rope and revealing behind the curtain hands) is just ughhh... she's better than that.
She is only 17 yrs old but its so surprising that there are so many obvious and deep wrinkles under her eyes.. I cannot believe my eyes when the camera gets closer to her face. .
Would not dare argue about her jump techniques... but the way that she looks so rushed and constantly about to fall makes her look immature as a performer. The Russian style of women skating these days is just so disappointing. The stretch and strength that Michelle, Sasha, Irina and Yuna had is not to be seen in the women’s division now :’(
Nice skating, but she always does these really weird programs. Still, you can't really argue she's not the best. Rarely makes a mistake and has good skating skills.
Lilalove her performance seems juvenile quite juniorish. She does the same thing in every performance. Open her mouth with those big wide doe eyes 👀. It just seems like a little girl out there skating. She's a excellent jumper she's just not my cup of tea.
