I do, love the thing, 180 horses, fuel economy less than 5 litres/100, more comfortable than BMW 5 series, seat comfort S Class level, loads of cargo space. LED headlights, 12 speakers Sony superior to Mercedes C Class Burmester. Taxi driver told me, best car he ever had. Great car, totally underrated!
I drove one. Proudly. With this exact engine. You won’t win a sprint at the traffic lights but 5 liters per 100 km is easily doable and on the highway/motorway the engine is strong enough to merge easily in all traffic and 170 - 190 km/h feels like not much more than 120, even sound wise. I loved the fact that I could tell people and my bank account that I only put in 50 liters of diesel and could go on for another 1000 KM’s. It has loads of space, really comfortable in the back and all safety and driving assistance features there were at the time. Except for the front seats, everything was more comfortable than the Volvo v70 I drove before the Mondeo. There were only two things I didn’t like. First one being the chairs in front. Seat length was too short so I bought an extender. The other thing was, it died on me, with only 231000 Km on it. Jammed water pump messed up the belt. Engine gone… no revised engines in the Netherlands... So a very sad goodbye to the Mondeo.
