2017 Honda Civic Hatchback - Redline: Review 

The one thing that irks me about +Honda is the fact that they market the "Sport" trims to younger buyers, but then take away the technology. That doesn't make any sense. They don't include smart entry or Apple CarPlay/Android auto. Most younger buyers/Millenials want the technology included in their cars. It's like me trying to sell you a high end smartphone but will strip it of bluetooth, navigation and WiFi

I have personally seen the 2017 honda civic hatchback at work. They look very very nice and they're very eye catching. This review definitely covered everything in my personal opinion. Only thing is, if you go to a honda dealership, it's very hard to find a honda civic hatchback with a 6speed manual transmission. It's more of a request and build that you have done on the Honda website and getting a quote from them. Other than that, honda has definitely put alot of effort into this hatchback. It's a eye catcher for many teenager or any car enthusiast. Great job with the review!

Regardless of what a car review says, at the end of the day, the only thing that matters, is the driver's face whilst driving the car,. This guy has it from ear to ear once he starts driving. I don't care if a GTI is cheaper, because them money saved,just can't buy me a smile.

Great review, Sofyan.... It's so funny, because I just reviewed a 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback, too. I will hopefully be posting it this Saturday (I am still editing it). The Civic hatchback is a great looking, not so little hatchback. I agree with you about the materials in the Civic, some can seem a little on the cheap side. After all, I did review the EX trim which is a step up from this SPORT trim; it has some more soft to the touch materials with a few more amenities. The exterior design just looks so striking, yet still sophisticated and not to racer boy looking. I honestly really enjoy the look of it. From one good reviewer to one great reviewer! Am I hearing wheel spin from gear 1 to 2?

Sweet daily driver Pound on the LX 6MT everyday commuting, NE winters, and it's a blast. 38-41 MPG 45K miles and no issues

Inspired by reviews on youtube, I was seriously thinking about replacing my TDI with this civic hatch. Finally, I got time to do an extensive test drive and a lot of thinking on Honda dealer's lot while chatting with the salesperson. My conclusion is (concurred by the salesperson): Honda started this hatch off on a wrong foot by not offering manual on top sport trims AND shipping few (if any) manual cars to the dealers. The CVT made this engine sluggish, even compared to my 150hp TDI. I tried pretty hard and was not able to get to high rpm easily with the CVT The power delivery was erratic at the best. I remember just a few days ago when I did a quick pass around another car in my TDI, in a commanding and smooth way, my wife asked me: "Does that Civic you mentioned have this capability?". I replied "It should, at least on the paper". Now after the test drive, my answer to her would be a definitive NO. I better look elsewhere for my next car. And it is getting close to turning in my leased TDI. Any suggestions? Yes, I want a hatchback or wagon.

I battled for months for a standard transmission but it's limited for now in the US. There are owners who have the standard transmission. I was put on a waiting list and ETA is near four months. One dealer had the standard transmission and four other states were battling over it. I purchased the CVT transmission with no regrets and thats only because I own a 1993 Del Sol Si Gonna pass my 2017 Civic Hatchback Sport to my wife and purchase the Type R. Fun car to drive and the handling is nice and tight. Good job Honda with the variable line up of civics.

Very nice review. Patiently waiting for the Si and the Type R test drives. In my opinion, the only RELIABLE sporty compacts comparable to the to the Civic offerings are the Subaru's WRX and Sti. The Golf and Focus based ones might perform better or equally, but I would not feel comfortable spending my money on their reliability. Good job Honda.

I believe most of the shortcomings you mentioned towards the end of your review will not only be addressed with the civic si, but also with the sport touring trim. Except for the transmission/clutch of course.

How doe the hatchback handling compare to the sedan? Which one would feel more fun and planted in a corner? Also does the seat hold you in well for a corner? I just deciding on which model to get as a first car, but I think im leaning towards a sedan ex-t with stick.

a nice review, especially when you are talking about the car's engine when the car is off..before, it was a bit hard to hear what you are saying while the engine is in 👍 The car, actually it is very well equipped for a basic turbo..cruise control, digital guages, reversing camera, electric parking break, central exhaust. that's good

I like the review. I do think that Honda is saving the cool upgrades for the SI. This trim level is OK, but the SI is for the enthusiast. Kudos for Honda for making a manual transmission. I hate CVT's.

In Canada, all hatchbacks come with the TFT screen and larger infotainment screen (even LX and Sport). But we pay at a higher price, and our turbo sedans and coupes dont come with manual.

Can't believe this car only weighs 2815lbs. That's extremely light considering how much room this car offers.
