I drove a 10th gen and came away conflicted. It was noticably faster and sharper than my 8th gen (both coupes), but the sound almost put me to sleep. In terms of performance, turbos are the way to go. In terms of character however, I dunno about that.
After driving this car, I really enjoyed it. However I really wish it was a 2.0 liter. It would just be able to hold more power for mod ability while staying reliable. I get they don’t want to step on the Type R sales but I still hate when car companies purposefully neuter engines. All in all though, this car is worth the money.
@@alexcherneta7572 Big true, the type r is $10k difference at this point. You can put that 10K in this car and achieve some crazy stuff in the Si's small displacement engine. It definitely has some good low end grunt from the low end torque even at stock levels.
@@ValkenDnB you can put 5k in this car and push 400HP I would have went Type R though if I could go back it would of been a higher starting point. The SI will max at 425 or so without upgrading engine inners or swap
Really disappointed Honda went with a turbo nowadays. Defeats the purpose of vtec and why Honda was loved overall. High revving small reliable engines.
Josiah Butler are you stupid? K20 made almost the same power without a turbo. When you turbo’d them they made insane numbers. These engines are just turds in comparison
Josiah Butler this actually makes no power over the 9th gen K24, it’s just a bit torquier. Also it appears to not have as nice of a top end as the old K series, power appears to drop off a bit.
Yea, it needs summer tires and and one of those bar mounts that stops wheel hops. The main issue with launches in fwd cars with power is that the wheels jiggle so much you can’t get traction. Same thing happens in the Type R
Lookin good boss👍.... A good tune from hondata a downpipe and mabye injectors and fuel pump(to be safe). That'll get you to mabye low to mid 300s pretty easily👍👍...Still a pretty quick car if you are me (ik driving the manual is like driving a fighter jet😏)
Well I checked it out and did some research. I wouldn't smoke. But I would definitely outrun it. I'm pulling 6 flat in the zero to sixty. Your not. Mid to low 14's quarter mile. Your not. Sorry
Bobaganush26 a stock 2000 celiac gts stock runs low 15’s. If you’re comparing your car that isn’t stock against a stock civic that’s pretty stupid. The civic with minor mods will easily get into the 13’s for way less money then your 2000 celica. You obviously have never taken your car to the track so you have no idea what it runs.
@@brokentradgedy That's a good ass car right there. Too bad they don't make the RSX anymore, it'll live on in Honda history. I don't like the 10th Gen Civic Si because it has a non-Vtec 1.5 turbo Honda Fit engine. I like the 6th, 7th (kinda), 8th (favourite), & even 9th gens more.
BallistaTheDeer people wanted more torque and so Honda delivered. The 9th gen has some great torque off the line and decent midrange. Also the K20 really wasn’t being made anymore after the 8th gen civic si finished its run. There weren’t any USDM cars using it, so I don’t think that Honda wanted to keep making an engine for just one car. Whereas the K24 was still used in the Accord, Crosstour and CRV. And some people complain that the engine doesn’t wind out as far, and while I do agree that it would be nice for it to rev higher, the torque is a good trade off. And it’s still a true VTEC engine which has a glorious sound and crossover.
6.5 0-60 not slow. Relatively quick. Type r in 5 secs which isn't very fast but makes up for it on 60-100 pull and corners better than any other car on the market that even costs twice as much
@@yourmanzach2307 6.5 is mindblowingly slow. My rav 4 does 5.5 and it's still slow af. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mFLjvYL3xgA.html
Speeding code Also be careful on shifting in high rpms American honda will use that against you if something goes wrong with trans or motor They will say you where abusing the car
@@christianreyes9115 for some hyundai and nissans it will tell the mechanics that the engine was at high rpms. When your ecu records your driving habits to put the right throttle response its recording rpms as well. It's so dumb because it's a fucking sports car of course it's gonna get abused. That like me riding my motorcycle to redline and when something happens they tell me "you abused it". These car/motorcycle companies only care about money....
It's my CIVIC duty to tell you, that was a Sloooow asf 0-60 time SLOW! SLOW! SLOW! One more thing... SLOW ASF 0-60 TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wrx is faster, but the Civic has a better shifter. Better interior, better steering feel better cornering and is lighter. Each car has their own purpose.
Why dont I just say come to my side and feel the power of my supercharged gt mustang. It's a civic. It's far more affordable than a wrx. To each their own.
Dude your just jealous you cant afford one. They are better than last year and faster , has way more technology and comfort , its a great car , and the turbo pulls is fun , go drive one first before u hate
That statement is definitely not true... I raced a last gen si a while back ago did a pull on the highway starting off at 60mhp and prev gen si couldn't keep up I started pulling away from him more and more. That 1.5 engine ain't no joke has plenty of potential the turbo charger definitely helps it with its torque producing
