This happens to mine still to this day at times.. i usually just cut the car off and then to the run without starting car (push button 2016 hybrid 2.0l ) and press the gas pedal twice then put car in neutral press gas pedal twice then back in park press gas pedal twice and start the car that will turn off my hybrid system and run the car on the gas motor.. the green car will flash when you do it right .. i had the gas motor replaced under recall and it runs good still burns through oil and if my oil is not maintained at atleast half full my car jerks hard when switching from hybrid to gas and i will do the gas pedal 6 times to get it from switching to hybrid..
@@steftrujillo4168 Hybrid power control unit. It is located in the right front part of the engine and controls all power systems. hpcu is under warranty.
Look up Lemon Law, 3+ same issue & not remedied- they owe you a brand new battery or have them buy back your car. Go to www.NHTSA.gov enter your situation
@shanejohnson8699 dealer did not find the reason or any OBD code the second time or any explanation why it happened, and they returned me the car after a week
Go to the NHTSA,gov and enter a complaint. You’re gonna have to upload any pics video & documentation from the auto shop. I believe Hyuandai has extended the warranty & increased the mileage cap due to complaints
Modern hybrid systems (2017) seem to have several problems. My car is 173,000 km. Must be recall 2.0 GDI ENGINE, IBAU, electronic water pump, HPCU. Hyundai can become a global brand only when it recognizes and improves its problems. I replaced all the parts mentioned above.
I going thru this same exact promlblem on my 2016 Hyundai sonata hybrid it sucks because I’m also making payments on it and I live in Ohio and my mileage is 155,078 😢 I lost all hope for this vehicle and I don’t have any back ups.
Same problem I’m in Ohio spent $7,000 so far in the last 6 months and finally got it back after got sold a bad inverter. My 12v wasn’t charging and now it is but I have check brake and charging error on dash 🤦🏽♂️
I bought mine new in 12/2017 in California. I had this problem aboutb5 mo's ago. They fully covered it and even extended my warranty. Check the dealership to see what they can do for you.
This just happened to me today while driving on the freeway ! the engine died and I lost power while driving car was jerking almost crashed because of it smh 95,000 miles on it I checked the vin no recall wtfff !
Check out my short video. Go to www.NHTSA.gov enter your scenario. It will force Hyuandai to acknowledge & possibly extend your warranty. I get recall notices all the time, take my car in, that doesn’t mean they fixed the issue
It went into limp mode Had to get a knock sensor replaced covered under warranty now my engine light is on cylinder miss fire possibly spark plug replacement
My 2017 was in the shop for 6 months, the shop replaced the transmission under warranty... failed again 3 more times on the freeway. So far, no other shop has been able to determibe the issue, car goes into " limp mode," hyundai dealers says i must pay for repairs. I went to hyundai consumer affairs and they are useless
Same here... it freaked me out when I drove on the highway, and yet to fixed & afraid to go to the dealer..... does anyone know how to fix this problem???
Go to the dealer. What is your mileage? Do you still have warranty? What state are you in? I got mine covered under a warranty & a full battery replacement. Keep all your paperwork. If you ignore the issue, you may make it worse
I’m not a mechanic but Hybrids are touchy & you should not delay issues. It’s not like a gas car where you can ignore it. Go find out & go to NHTSA.gov & do research & enter your issue. I believe Hyuandai has increased the mileage cap on their warranty due to complaints. Do your research.
My advice is if it’s still under the warranty and Hyundai’s hybrid battery is good for 100,000 miles keep taking it in and have them address the issue if they tell them no codes come up that’s bullshit if they tell you we did recalls that doesn’t mean that they fix the problem and that does not count make sure you read your paperwork if it happens three more times and the dealership does not fix it under California it qualifies Under the lemon law but you have to keep all of your paperwork. My dealership ended up replacing the entire hybrid battery the power module system and a harness. There was no power going to the motor this is a serious issue be persistent and keep on them. Also go to www.nhtsa.gov
