In this video I am going over a tensioner problem part number 3022627. I have not done it yet but I will be upgrading the tensioner to the newest version at this time part number 3023459.
This bike does have the stage3 BBK to 116. The kit was installed in 2018 but did not include the new rev of the tensioner.
I want to clarify the middle of the video. before I opened the end of the tensioner the piece that locks the slots of the rod was stuck. after I opened it and pushed it out with a little flathead screw driver it was still stuck, I had to wiggle the rod a bit to get that clamp unstuck. reassembled and was able to compress it. this video was complete troubleshooting so I apologize for repeating myself.
there are no videos going over this topic. So i hope this video helps some people, and thanks for watching.

This is the original design of the tensioner and it was junk. The latest that is offered as a replacement is a much better design. The originals are not worth fixing, it will only happen again.

Any updates? Did it cure the problem? I have a 2015 Chieftain 111 that is making the same noise

It did, but I did find another noise that happens from time to time, checking around engine it seems like a lifter in the front is sticking every now and then.

I am thinking about buying a second hand Indian so how annoying is it and do you think all these ticking and clacking noises will cause problems down the track

Normal wear and tear. You let it go it will eventually evolve into bigger issues. So I always just fix it as it comes.
