I remember seeing this live on TV, because Alonso joined the event. Even though his race went worse than hoped, I became an Indy 500 fan. This race is just special.
Formula 1 has much to learn about broadcasting from IndyCar. This is perfect solution for those of us, who can't watch races live on TV (or record them to watch earlier for that matter) or just want to re-live the thrills. I guess, I'll start following this series more closely.
I'm a brit who loves the indy500 and would love to go see this amazing race but I'm 57 now and my health is starting to go so I don't think I'll ever get there now. And I thank indycar for this, I didn't think twice about subscribing to the channel, much appreciation from the UK
AMEN! Be thankful that GOD woke you up today! AMEN! GOD IS HIM! AMEN! THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD! 🙏🏾✝️ PLEASE DO NOT USE THE LORD’S NAME IN VAIN! AMEN! Do not swear on anything, a simple yes or no is sufficient! AMEN! Let's keep this family friendly please! Please do not call people fools! AMEN! LUCK IS NOT REAL! GOD IS! AMEN! GOD DOES! ALL GLORY TO GOD! AMEN! LORD PLEASE FORGIVE AND HELP US ALL TO GET INTO ETERNAL PARADISE WHICH IS HEAVEN! Pray for everyone! None of us are worthy! But remember, GOD hates the sin, not the sinner! AMEN! 🙏🏾✝️
I totally agree! In fact, this is my raw footage that I took at that race when he won. My reaction is hilarious as well ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UuSQX2QpuGM.html
You guys are awesome for posting this race for free. Thank you so much. Other sports need to do this to reach out to fans. NBA would never do this to the finals or MLB for the world series. It's a shame.
1:36:37 I was there that day. You could have heard a pin drop in that place, but when Dixon and Howard got out of their cars, the entire place erupted with cheers.
Good to see that there are not only ignorant F1 fans who hate the Indy 500 because of Ovals and miscall them "Circle Racing".. I mean.. every racetrack is some kind of circle racing
It's amazing how much better the coverage has become. 360 cams on all the cars and the focus on commentating the race without cutting away to pit interviews and such. Very good coverage for folks interested in all the little details of the actual race.
As an F1 fan and a fan of Micheal Schmacher, I didn't appreciate Alonso's skill at the time Alonso won during the year's 2005 & 2006. However, being still an F1 fan, I'm getting to appreciate the skills Alonso did have and still does.
Alonso and the exploding Hondas, Dixon's wild ride, Chilton and Charlie running 1-2, Sato beating Helio for the win, This one earned it's title of The Greatest Spectacle In Racing.
Kudos to ABC for excellent broadcast coverage of the 500 (as usual), and thank you for downloading the entire race! It is truly "The Greatest Spectacle In Racing."
WOW ! Best promoted the best produced is simply the best race of the year has reached new levels of greatness . I'm so glad I got to see it ...Fernando was great .All drivers our special the get into this hollow ground .....The world sees this as the greatest race ever ......
It is the greatest race in the world every year. I’m only 33 and haven’t missed a race since I started going in 1995. And I don’t plan on missing one anytime.
Although I'm an F1 fan through and through it would be silly to say it can't learn anything from Indy. Let's all learn from each others disciplines and make motorsport better for everyone! Full races online would be amazing for F1 for a start!
NASCAR also uploads full races. If F1, WEC, ISMA, NASCAR, and Indycar could all upload highlights, full races, and drivers messing around the world would be a better place.
Still sad my favourite Helio Castroneves failed to win his fourth Indy 500 by such a little margin. But of all the other drivers, I am glad Takuma Sato won the race!
Me too - exactly. I love 'em both, and this is the first race I've watched where Sato won! (I just wasn't watching his other wins.) They are both good, clean, exciting, and humble racers who are sharing their dream with us.
You guys r tHE BEST guys are great! great! great! You guys are awesome for posting this race for me. Thank you so much. Other sports need to do this to reach out to fanszs

When's the last time F1 uploaded a full race? Hmm... Fun fact: ABC is only a 720p channel, so there's no detail advantage to setting this video to 1080p.
I see lots of comments about full races on RU-vid... indycar is awesome for that. But you can also get full races - not illicit uploads, genuine from the promoters - DTM, Blancpain, IMSA both weathertech and continental tire... A lot of racing series could learn from this. Would love to see WEC and F1 join in. Perhaps with Liberty Media buying F1 there's a chance..... they sure are changing the game in the way the fans interact with F1
Same reason F1 doesn't have a lot of things they should have, they aren't good at creating an entertaining product. They really need to make it so they have more parity like there is in IndyCar, and have a better presentation like in IndyCar.
It isn't believed at all! I didn't also think in a dream that it was possible to see Japanese winning the victory in indie 500 while I lived. I take pride as the same Japanese.
i felt the same when Piquet won in NASCAR at Road America I never thoghout that was possible a Brazilian win NASCAR but im glad that those types of things happens nowdays おめでとう~
I think is the isle of man TT. Real racing, less show, less money, no politics, just pure racing. You dont pay anything and watch the race literaly 2 foot from the bikes. If your not careful you lose your hat at the road side. An entire island full of bikes and racing fans, for 2 weeks. But yes..indy is a cool show..Just not the best in my eyes.
To the drivers and pit crews I pray that you always stay safe from harm or injury, to the fans, enjoy the race, but most importantly to all of our uniformed personnel at home and abroad our thoughts and prayers are always with you, we know that freedom isn't free and often comes at a very high price but know this: you'll are loved, your country supports you and wherever you may be we have your backs 110%! May God bless our troops and may God bless America!
Now THAT was a great race, after the fuel-milage disappointment of 2016!!! What a great finish, and the win goes to a really deserving driver! Helio was soooo close, but just didn't have the horsepower to put him back in front.
Okay so I know he didn't win and I was okay that he didn't, but how funny would it have been with all the F1 fans watching because of Fernando Alonso if the winner had been Max Chilton? He spent his two years in F1 as everyone referring to him as a joke, and he came so close to winning the Indy 500. That would have shut them up
I came here after Helio won his 4th Indy 500 now imagine if he won it here and then he won his 5th today Oh my god he would have been immortalized big time
Toby Howard, in F1 they do and have always broadcasted live every race, dunno about youtube uploading. BTW, was raised in Europe with residence in Madrid, Spain and my Freshman year in college I happened to attend Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, my 1st legal adult living experience in my country of birth and citizenship, did for obvious reasons and personal driving enthusiasm attend the INDY 500 training 2 weeks before the actual 1983 race, AS PER MY PRESENT LIFE SITUATION & JOB REALLY, SAD TO SEE SO MUCH GLAMOUR & RESPECT GIVEN TO A SPANISH DRIVER e.g. FERNANDO ALONSO and EUROPEAN "CONTINENT" AS A WHOLE, IT HAS NOT BEEN THE SAME FOR ME AS AN AMERICAN WHO HAS DRIVEN ACROSS EUROPE MANY TIMES & WEARING THE CLOTH OF OUR NATION, EXCEPT FOR MOST EUROPEAN POLICE REPRESENTATIVES TO THE ONLY EXCEPTION OF SPANISH SECURITY OR POLICE FORCES, WHERE I CURRENTLY LIVE AT. I WILL PREFER, AND DO SO, REMEMBER AND HONOR THE TIMES OF MARIO ANDRETTI, Sr., BOTH AN F1 WORLD CHAMP & INDY 500 RACER...………….
