I own this bike (I made 3000km with it) and I found no useful information in this video. Nothing about the suspension recall nothing about general wear ant tear, just the same things we already know from the initial review. Where is the long term part?
I love the bike. My dealer called me on the phone yesterday and asked me to bring the bike in to check if my bike is object of the recent suspension recall depending on the serial number. I didn't go to check it yet but I will soon. I had otherwise zero problems and lots of fun. The only things you need to do are to probably lower the position of the gear selector (it was way to high for me giving me problems selecting second gear) and I had to lower the rear break pedal (no parts required just fiddling with some nuts). Another thing would be (if you have an aversion to scratches like me) to protect the exhaust pipe where your right heel tends to touch it. My dealer has the same bike and that unprotected spot on his looks bad. You will love it! Have fun and be safe!
I’ve had one of theses for a bit over a year doing 120+km daily commute as well as general riding as my one and only vehicle. The bike is awesome mine is exactly the same colors as the video and it really turns heads. The Dunlop tire aren’t too bad for grip but are fairly soft so I burnt through them pretty quick and have replaced them with Bridgestone T30s the dual compound is better for my use but both sets are good in the wet. Getting close to the 40 thousand kilometer mark
Pretty good for a first attempt. Keep it up! Wanna see more videos from this guy as I felt like he took it seriously and did his homework. Don't listen to the haters!
My friend has z900 and i rode it several times. Riding position is just not comfortable for average height people especially with long legs. Moving sit up is not a solution, cause it will increase bent. My opinion this bike is perfect for people with short legs. If you does not have short legs better to buy Yamaha MT7/9, way more comfortable seating position. I can ride my MT for hours without even feel of discomfort, whilst on Z900 after one hour i start noticing discomfort in knees.
OR you could ask people who have ridden both. Or if you speak German you can watch 1000PS's review "GSX-S 750 vs. MT-09 vs. Z900" I chose the Z900 over the MT09 last year, because the MT09: - felt way too much like cheap plastics everywhere - sounded way worse - gave worse tarmac feedback - looks not as good in my opinion The Z900 sounds AWESOME when you accelerate due to the engineered air box sound (which Kawasaki focused on, because the rider hears the air box way more than the exhaust). For this year's Brutale 800 MV Agusta did just the same ... because it's a great idea! :) You keep the motorcycle silent for pedestrians, but give the rider a rich engine sound experience.
I have narrowed my choices down to the Z900 and the FZ09. I like the fit slightly better on the fz 09 but this is still a tough decision. I am however, convinced that I will like whatever bike I bring home.
MCN evidently did the comparison quite some time back, but it was unfortunately published only for paying magazine subscribers and a full video review wasn't given. Couple of comments from Neeves on the FB page in video summary is he said the Z900 "trounced the Yamaha" in their comparison. Honestly it's not exactly an apples to apples. Triple vs. four. Light versus heavier. Wheelie prone vs. stable and planted. It's the same category and close power to weight ratio, but the bikes feel a lot different.
Those stock tires are decent for dry grip, but from what I've read are garbage in the wet. I own this bike without ABS. I've not gotten stuck in much rain, a little but not much. I'd rather slap on a set of Michelin, Continental, Metzeler, or Pirelli sport-touring tires from the latest crop and be confident.
whats even worse is that theyre calling this a long term review yet they dont own it and he specifically says its been ridden for a only a few months.. long term for me is at least a year
I look forward to an evaluation of the new Z900RS... I had a '76 KZ900 in the Root Beer Brown...and Love the Retro looks... But I do NOT want to give up actual good riding performance simply for the "Looks" I currently have an FZ1 -- with a few 'tweaks' -- putting 140hp to the ground with a weight of right at 450 lbs, I do NOT "Race" but I do at least one track day per year, and LOTS of mountain roads. So I am not interested in just a 'styling ride'...
I don’t understand what you mean by abs cutting a little early, the wheel locks and abs reduces the break pressure, do you mean the abs cut to early allowing the wheel to lock?
Theres nothing wrong with a " little early" on a bike's ABS that just means your holding your brakes too late at that point and had a dumb bike instructor
Anyone watching this is interested in the livability of the bike. We can all read a spec sheet about the wheelbase and brake size. Tell us how well it brakes, tell us if it is still exciting to ride after a long time, tell us pros and cons, etc.
I think he did a good job, thanks for the review, he’s clearly new to this and will get better in time, seeing the comments and negative feedback.. really shows the amount of wankers subscribed to this channel. Even have someone commenting on his earrings.. really?!
Not bad ryan, slowly improving on your motorcycle reviews. Just need to work on your pitch and quit using the word 'um' and 'arh' Apart from that not bad 👍
I am a little disappointed with the HP... I have been a long-time Kawa fan, and HP is sort of a trademark. But my current Yamaha FZ1 {the Kawasaki Salesman was a TOTAL ASS!} has only 48 more cc...but I have a Dyno tested 135HP to the rear wheel... [insert 'sad face'] My Brother and I are both Very interested in the Z900RS {My Brother had a gorgeous '76 KZ900 in the Root Beer and Gold} and compared to the "original" 82HP at the flywheel, the 115HP or so will be a step up...but not what we had hoped for.
I rode this bike, and I rode the GSXS-1000 and I knew immediately which bike I wanted. Reviewer needs more confidence, and the other guys need to stop being douches. Sunscreen on your back? Really?
I'm the type of person who wants a bike really badly, but may be turned off by the community. Why don't you geniuses make videos? It's obvious he wanted to say things here and there, but had to stay sponsor friendly. He wanted to say it leaves you feeling cramped, which only adds to the agitation that builds up the whole ride. It's so awesome, but all the small design choices make it hard to enjoy the wicked time you're having. Then the letters A B S won't leave you alone. Ffs you didn't buy a ktm! You bought a man's toy. Sucks for you, I want the KTM 690
If you let any community drive you off the motorcycle you want, then MAYBE you should get a home trainer, where you can hide from your feelings, mr soft shell. OR: You buy the fucking sweet lady on two wheels you enjoyed during a test ride and ignore others' opinion like the top of evolution you are supposed to be. Hint: You can tell if you REALLY enjoyed a motorcycle during a test ride as follows: Did you actually have a big grin under your helmet during the test ride at any point? --> Buy that baby! Oh, and this video IS crap, because its "long term" title is pure click bait.
real dumb amateur move passing on the inside of a car splitting lanes at high speed with a tractor semi on the right and trapped between them and the median. Fail big time.
Looking at that lane splitting makes me sick. Only in California. Well, not really but that is the only place in the US where it is actually legal. In most of the other states it is illegal and in some there is legislation on the books to either make it legal or illegal but at this time the only place it is truly legal is in California which is surprising since everything else is so strict there.
Disagree. It's a zillion times smoother. More planted. Better breaks. More HP and torque. Less weight. Much better instrument display. Doesn't burn rich and stink up your back like the 919. Engine derived from the 2014 Z1000, whereas the 919 is derived from a 1996 CBR900RR sportbike.
Nice video guys, but should think on the type of riding that you are doing and showing. Going at hi speeds between cars over the white white line which separate lanes is unsafe and illegal. You should be an example on how to drive on public roads, not just another reckless biker putting in danger everyone arround. Just my take. Maybe it helps.
Of course the Z900 beat the 750 but the GSXS900 would whip this Kawasaki’s ass it is faster has better ride, well softer I should say but yea compare apples to oranges not 900’s to 750’s! Also don’t call it a long term review nothing about this was long term.
'not an easy thing to do you have to pull the fuse or something'.... Yeah it's a 20 second job to remove a fuse, lets hope this fella never needs to bump start a bike or something.
@1:20 , DUUUUUUUUUUDE . . . you look A LOT like the late Chester Bennington from LinkinPark ! ! ! @1:39 using the middle of the lane, specially during braking, that's where all the CRUD CONCENTRATES , maybe that's why you were tripping the ABS system. Passenger seat it's unreasonable high, for nothing . . . there's plenty of gap between the rear tyre and it. Don't listen too much to the "professional critics", we all need to start somewhere and I can only think you'll get better at it, keep your chin up.
to the crank but the whp is always different from hp since there is power loss in the chain drive. But the fz09 only does 90 to the rear wheel even though it makes 115hp
Let's just put some FACTS into this little discussion. i0.wp.com/ridermagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Kawasaki-Z900-and-Yamaha-FZ-09-dyno-run-combined.jpg From the research I've done, the Yamaha can make 115/65 at the wheel with exhaust and tuning. The Kawasaki can make 125/73 at the wheel with exhaust and tuning. Yamaha loses 8-10 pounds with a given exhaust system. Kawasaki loses 16-18 pounds with a given exhaust system.
HOW IS THE H2 boring to you then the f#cker has a top speed of 350 kph vs the h2r with a top speed of 400kph?! The H2 sx is dutuned yes the the engine is pretty much the same with small adjustmenst it pushes 252hp stock with flash that could be brought up right under 300hp!! And the z900 is way faster than the fz09 but does not have as much torque from 3k rpms. I want to know what ninja you ride because how is this bike boring?? I ride a ninja 250 so you can call my bike boring I will understand but a 125hp bike that weighs nothing and a 252hp SPORT TOURING BIKE?! Tell me of another sport touring bike that has over 200hp. (yamaha fjr1300 141hp, yamaha fz10 150hp, kawasaki concours 14 161hp, bmw k12000 167hp ktm super duke GT 173hp.)
