Good review! We were faced with this same decision almost two years ago and we were looking at these same two vehicles. The kids were almost out of the booster seats and friends were starting to come along on trips. Would we move on to 7-pass AWD SUV or stay with a minivan for another 5 years. We weighed the pros and cons and pulled the trigger on another minivan. We haven't regretted our decision to buy the Kia Sedona as it has done everything very well. Long trips are very quiet and comfortable, real world cargo room exceeds our outgoing Dodge Grand Caravan and the feature list on our SX model is big bang for the buck as it cost us thousands less than a Sienna or Odyssey to get heated seats, heated steering wheel, power sliding doors, power lift gate and much more. Our adult friends really like the second row as it is very roomy, has 4 cup holders, heated seats, easy to reach climate controls as well as the above mentioned power sliding doors.

can't beat a van if you care about your family. my perfect vehicles are a van and a subaru for winter.

The Sante Fe/Sorento are 2 of the smallest 3 row crossovers in the segment, making their third row pretty useless as you mentioned in the review. The Pilot would have been a better option if you're going to do a comparison....

I thought the Pilot would have been a better comparison as a better 3 row crossover. Santa Fe kind of stretches the the term 3 row since the last row is pretty small

The 2017 Santa Fe has heated and ventilated front seats and heated seats in second row as well as the Sedona my dad used to have a Santa Fe just like that a 2017 Limited

I have both of these vehicles, and I like each one for various reasons.

This is/was a very interesting comparison indeed because most car reviewers compare mini van vs minivan and SUV vs SUV. Yes most people buy a SUV in the end. I find this video interesting because I too did take a serious look at this Hyundai Santa Fe and at every other single SUV out there from Honda, Toyota, Subaru, Kia, Volvo, Mitsubishi, Mazda, you name it. I really wanted a SUV and It took me several months to finally pin point what I studied and I ended up buying a 2020 Kia Sedona. After I drove the Kia Sedona I knew that was the right choice and the best bang for my money. My Kia Sedona is not perfect for sure but over all It beats many cars out there in many aspects. It is a pretty darn good vehicle.

1) He very likely had the "Comfort" drive mode enabled, which made the steering light and loose. The Comfort mode is designed for lower speed driving...back winding roads, parking lots, etc. It also has Normal and Eco modes. Either one of those would have tightened up the steering. 2) Near the end, speaking of the Sedona, he says, "when removing the second row of seats..." You can't remove the second row seats in the 2017 Sedona. It's hard for people to take your advice seriously when you demonstrate ignorance of major features in the vehicles you're supposed to be comparing/reviewing.

You should've compared Honda Pilot with Chrysler Pacifica as best in class contenders

really? you compare a SUV to a minivan and conclude that the minivan is more spacious? you could literally come up with any better comparison idea than this

I would like to see a Kia Sedona vs. the Chrysler Pacifica now that would of made sense. Funny thing is that they have the same motor. So how can you differ these 2 vehicles. But i can understand if you looking between these 2 vehicles then it can make sense, but they both have the same motors so interior wise is the only thing I can see the slight difference.

Excellent idea for a comparison, if you don't need Awd and aren't concerned with what you perceive others will think about you driving a " minivan " the sedona by far wins hands down. To get comparable cargo space it would be necessary to purchase something like a chevy suburban and give up better handling, ride, fuel economy, more quiet interior , garage parking ability, accessibility to the third row seating . Satisfing my ego just wasn't worth the extra $15,000 to $20,000. A friend and a family member laughed at me for buying a Sedona because my children are grown up now but after their first ride they don't laugh anymore and one of them actually apologized. Nothing is more practical than a minivan.

i have the hyunda santa fe. i like the car but with 3 kids (2 toddlers, 1 newborn)its not convenient. going to look into the sedona.

Minivans will always be more practical family and cargo haulers. More space for 3rd row passengers. Lower cargo lift-over.

Currently only a V6 is offered with Minivans. None of that Turbo crap which generally needs Premium Fuel to get the full potential out of a Turbo engine. I don't give a flying F if the owners manual says it'll run on Regular.

A minivan is the best choice for an outdoorsman who hunts and fish and trailers small boats. So much better than a one dimensional pickup truck. You pay thru the nose for a pickup truck and what can it do for you ? Just a box in the back that collects water. I had 2 choices : 2017 Kia Sedona that can tow and lug around huge amounts of gear or buy a Chevy Colorado 200 hp crew cab and be underpowered and have a one dimensional vehicle. Who cares if it's a soccor mom vehicle, it's the most useful vehicle there is for a sportsman. Think about it.

The Sedona is a minivan. The Santa Fe is a midsize crossover. This comparison makes no sense. I could understand the Sorento vs a Santa Fe or even a Sedona vs a Sorento. Keep class or brand. Don’t breach both

This video proves that Hyundai/Kia/Genesis is paying AutoGuide to make their cars look good. Any other review would have had a Honda Pilot and a Chrysler pacifica, since they are class leaders. These two? Not so much. AUTOGUIDE IS FILLED WITH BULLSIT TO MAKE HYUNDAI KIA AND GENSESIS LOOK GOOD.
